"Streamlined Onboarding but Needs Better Compliance Features"

4.5/5

What do you like best about HROne?

The biggest win for our small HR consulting firm is its end‑to‑end onboarding flow and centralized document repository. We don’t have any in‑house IT, so keeping everything consolidated makes a huge practical difference. When we brought on eight new factory workers for our manufacturing client last quarter, we attached signed offer letters, state‑required labor disclosures and completed I‑9 forms right inside each employee’s profile. The built‑in checklist walked the client’s in‑house HR coordinator through every onboarding step, so they didn’t overlook mandatory tasks. Role‑based access controls are straightforward to set up too. We locked down permissions so junior client‑side users could view records but couldn’t edit sensitive personnel data. This cuts down the risk of accidental changes and eliminates the chaos of managing scattered files across multiple cloud drives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about HROne?

The most frustrating pain points show up when we need to produce compliance‑focused deliverables for our manufacturing clients. Trying to bulk‑upload multiple batches of I‑9 supporting paperwork would frequently error‑out, and we had to attach each document one file at a time. Its standard report outputs cannot produce the custom audit summaries we are required to submit for Illinois labor compliance reviews. Since our firm has no dedicated IT resources, we cannot modify backend report templates, so we export raw datasets and rebuild everything manually inside spreadsheets to hit audit deadlines. The initial implementation also required far more hands‑on configuration than we anticipated. There were zero pre‑loaded templates built for US state‑labor requirements. I built custom onboarding fields and user permission groups entirely from scratch, and spent several after‑hours importing legacy employee records. Some junior team members needed extra hands‑on training. All that setup work ate into billable hours we should have spent delivering direct HR consulting work for our clients. What problems is HROne solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before adopting HROne, we split our work between generic cloud document storage and a basic applicant‑tracking system. Onboarding checklists lived in the ATS, while personnel paperwork sat in separate cloud folders. Our team wasted hours hunting for misplaced forms and retyping data between tools, and human‑caused copy‑paste errors popped up fairly regularly. HROne consolidates employee profiles and onboarding workflows all in one spot. For our manufacturing‑client new‑hire projects, every stakeholder accesses the same set of documents and task lists, cutting down administrative busywork. That said, its reporting still falls short for state‑labor audits, so we still complete formal compliance reviews inside external spreadsheets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
