My favorite thing about HeyMarvin is how flexible the sequence builder is, especially the rule to automatically pause emails once a prospect replies. This feature saved us from a really awkward mess we had last spring with a local craft supply shop, Atelier Grünwald. Back then, we were still using Outreach.io and accidentally left an active sequence running after the shop owner replied asking for our wholesale catalog. The system kept firing three more automated emails, and she got frustrated, messaging us to say she felt spammed. We nearly lost that partnership over the misstep, and I spent ages sending apology emails to smooth things over. Now with HeyMarvin, that whole risk is gone. I build separate outreach sequences for different retailer groups: handmade gift boutiques, art workshop studios, and bulk craft supply vendors. I can drop in custom merge tags for each shop’s name and their main product lines, so emails don’t feel generic. If someone writes back, the sequence stops instantly. Just last month, I reached out to Atelier Grünwald again with our new spring collection. They replied quickly to ask about minimum order quantities, and no further automated messages went out. I hopped right in to send over our catalog link personally. I also love the simple dashboard view I pull up every Friday for our team check-in. I can quickly see open rates and replies for each campaign, so I know what messaging lands best with shop owners. Our team doesn’t have a dedicated marketing specialist, so this built-in tracking saves me from manually digging through spreadsheets. It cuts down so much repetitive admin work. If I’m out of office, my coworker can open the contact timeline and pick up conversations without confusion. It keeps our wholesale outreach feeling genuine, not like cold robotic spam, and that matters a lot when building long-term relationships with small German craft business owners. There are a couple of small frustrations I run into regularly while using HeyMarvin for our craft retail outreach. The biggest one is bulk contact importing. When I upload new retailer lists from trade fairs, sometimes German umlauts like ä, ö, ü get messed up in the contact names and shop titles. I end up spending around an hour every time manually fixing those garbled characters one by one after import. I also find the reporting templates pretty limited. I want to pull reports grouped by shop type, such as art workshops versus handmade gift stores, but the native filters don’t let me build that breakdown easily. I have to export the raw CSV and then sort everything in Excel to get the segmented data our team needs. Another minor issue is the lack of native reminder alerts inside the tool. If a lead replies and pauses the sequence, HeyMarvin doesn’t send me an immediate notification. Sometimes I miss the reply for half a day when I’m busy handling custom craft order inquiries. It would be nice to get a quick alert so I can respond faster to interested wholesale buyers. None of these break the core workflow, but those fixes would save me quite a bit of extra manual work each week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
