What do you like best about Google Cloud Translation API?

What I like best is the sheer breadth of its AI/Intelligence and its reliability. It translates anything we throw at it across over a hundred languages with excellent performance. The v3 Advanced features are the real workhorses: glossaries ensure our brand terminology stays consistent, document translation preserves the exact formatting of our PDFs and DOCX files, and batch translation lets us process hundreds of articles simultaneously. The seamless Integrations with the rest of Google Cloud (using the same IAM roles, billing, and monitoring) make setup incredibly easy, and the quality of support and onboarding via the clear client libraries is top-notch. The NMT model is great for functional text, while the LLM model makes our marketing copy sound human. What do you dislike about Google Cloud Translation API?

The honest downside is the Pricing/ROI at scale. The per-character billing model is a trap; because each target language is billed separately, translating one article into six languages hits the invoice six times, meaning costs can balloon if you don't set up budget alerts immediately. The HTML markup billing is another major frustration, as it charges for every character inside the tags even though they aren't translated, forcing us to build pre-processing steps to strip markup before sending it. Additionally, the UI/UX of the console is serviceable but clearly built for developers, making it hard for non-technical teammates to manage glossaries or jobs. Documentation is also very thin when you move past the basic translation path, and the split between v2 and v3 APIs creates a hidden migration cost where you have to rework existing integrations. To mitigate the pricing issues, consider setting up budget alerts and exploring alternative billing models that might better suit your needs. For the HTML markup issue, developing a robust pre-processing script to strip unnecessary tags before translation can save costs. Enhancing the UI/UX to be more user-friendly for non-developers could broaden the tool's usability across teams. Additionally, expanding the documentation to cover more advanced use cases and providing clear migration guides between API versions would greatly benefit users. What problems is Google Cloud Translation API solving and how is that benefiting you?

We solved the bottleneck of manual translation and copy-pasting by moving translation directly into our publishing pipeline. It benefits us by completely transforming our workflow: content goes into a storage bucket, a function fires, and translated versions come out automatically, turning our editors' jobs from 'production' to 'quality control'. We solved terminology inconsistency by using glossaries to lock in brand names and marketing terms across every language, eliminating the human error of having a product name translated in one paragraph and left alone in the next. The biggest benefit is turnaround time; what used to take a week of lead time for multilingual campaigns now happens the same day.
