The integration with Google Ads, Search Console, and Google Merchant Center gives us a connected view of how paid and organic efforts are driving results without reconciling data across separate tools. Custom reports and explorations in GA4 allow us to answer specific business questions and surface the metrics that matter most to our team. For a marketing team that relies heavily on data, Google Analytics has been the central source of truth for website and campaign performance.

**What do you dislike about Google Analytics?**

GA4 was a significant departure from Universal Analytics and the transition required a considerable amount of time to relearn reporting structures and rebuild the custom reports we had relied on previously. The interface can feel unintuitive at times, and finding specific data points often requires more clicks and configuration than it should. Data sampling in larger reports can also reduce accuracy, which is frustrating when making important budget decisions based on the numbers. Session-based metrics and attribution modeling have also changed in ways that make year over year comparisons difficult.

**What problems is Google Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Analytics solves the core problem of understanding where our website traffic comes from and what visitors do once they arrive, which is fundamental to making informed marketing decisions. Without it we would have no reliable way to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns, identify high performing channels, or understand where customers are dropping off in the purchase funnel. The biggest benefit has been the ability to tie marketing spend directly to revenue outcomes, which allows us to allocate budget more confidently and justify investment in specific channels. Having that level of measurement and accountability built into our marketing operation has been essential to growing efficiently.

**What do you like best about Google Analytics?**

What I like best about Google Analytics is how powerful and flexible it is once you really get into it. Over the years, it’s become my go-to for understanding not just traffic, but actual user behavior—what people are doing on the site, where they’re dropping off, and what’s actually driving conversions.

I especially appreciate the depth of insights you can get with proper setup—things like event tracking, funnels, and audience segmentation. Being able to break down data by channel, device, or even very specific user actions helps a lot in making informed decisions rather than just guessing.

Another big plus is how well it integrates with other tools in the ecosystem—Google Ads, Search Console, BigQuery—which makes it much easier to connect the dots across campaigns and performance.

It does have a learning curve, especially with GA4, but once you get past that, it’s incredibly valuable for both day-to-day reporting and long-term strategy.

**What do you dislike about Google Analytics?**

What I dislike about Google Analytics—especially after the shift to GA4—is the steep learning curve and how unintuitive it can feel at times, even for someone experienced.

The transition from Universal Analytics to GA4 hasn’t been the smoothest. A lot of the standard reports and metrics we were used to are either gone, renamed, or require custom setup. Something as simple as pulling a quick report can take longer than it should, especially if you haven’t already built it.

Another challenge is data consistency and trust. Between sampling (in UA), thresholding in GA4, and differences in attribution models, it’s not always easy to get numbers that align across platforms or even within Google’s own tools. That can make stakeholder reporting a bit tricky.

Also, while GA4 is more flexible with event-based tracking, it often requires more upfront configuration and technical involvement. For smaller teams or non-technical users, that can be a barrier.

Overall, it’s still a powerful tool, but it’s definitely not as straightforward or user-friendly as it used to be.

Google Analytics solves the core problem of not knowing what’s actually happening on your website beyond just surface-level metrics. It gives visibility into how users are finding you, how they’re interacting with your content, and what actions they’re taking before converting—or dropping off.

For me, the biggest benefit is being able to make data-driven decisions rather than relying on assumptions. Whether it’s identifying high-performing channels, spotting underperforming landing pages, or understanding user journeys, it helps prioritize what to fix and where to invest.

It’s also been really valuable for measuring ROI. Being able to tie traffic and user behavior back to specific campaigns, keywords, or content pieces makes it much easier to justify budgets and optimize ongoing efforts.

Another key benefit is in optimization. From CRO to SEO, the insights from Analytics help uncover gaps—like pages with high traffic but low engagement, or funnels where users are abandoning—which directly feeds into testing and improvement strategies.

Overall, it acts as a central source of truth that supports both day-to-day decisions and long-term growth planning.

**What do you like best about Google Analytics?**

The real upsides are that I can get clear, actionable data on visitors to my site. This includes what their landing page was, how long it took them to click, which page they went to next, and what brought them to my site in the first place. And the interface is very intuitive unlike other platforms. I have the free tier but even if I did pay the information that is presented makes it a small price to pay. It integrates well with my SEO platforms and even my ELK stack that I use for single pane of glass. Even with the integrations into those the speed at which the telemetry arrives is fantastic. And there was little to no difficult setup. The onboarding was simple and basically point and click. I use this data in conjunction with my ChatGPT chatbot for advice on improvement and other indicators that I might overlook

**What do you dislike about Google Analytics?**

Not that much, honestly. That said, my site is personal and, in my mind, fairly simplistic, since I’m not tracking sales of services or goods.

I did have problems identifying drivers to my site. Especially when it comes to trends or hot words but using GA in conjunction with my AI platform has really allowed me to grow my site and audience

**What do you like best about Google Analytics?**

Google Analytics helps us track our website performances in terms of trafic and turnover. We use the data every week for our acquisition review: we look at the conversion rate, where the trafic comes from, and we use the pixel to track the turnover made thanks to ads, or influence partnerships. The cost is very low, the integration with Meta and Shopify is great. The UX is not always the easiest to understand, but with a little experience there are a lot of reports and information you can get. We have implemented it with our ads agency at the time, but now we run it on our own. As far as I am concerned, I don't yet use the AI tools available.

**What do you dislike about Google Analytics?**

I feel like adding new members in the team is not always the easiest and it takes a little time to understand how it works. It is definitely made for professionals that are used to digital marketing. But it is very complete and customizable.

Google Analytics helps us track our trafic, and evaluate our ads performance so we can change them, increase or decrease the money spent.

It makes it easy to track visitor behavior, identify which pages perform best, understand user engagement, and use that information to make data-driven decisions that improve my website’s performance.

So far, there isn’t really anything I dislike about Google Analytics. It feels straightforward to use and has been effective for tracking my website’s performance.

What I like most is being able to see how many people visit, which pages they enjoy the most, how they move through the site, and where they’re coming from. Having all of that in one place helps me make better, more informed decisions - so I can improve my content, boost engagement, and grow my audience more efficiently.

It’s helpful for understanding how audiences find and reach our content over time, and it supports building reliable historical reports.

Its integration with the wider Google ecosystem also makes it a convenient baseline for reporting, with data that’s easy to share and align across teams.

The transition to GA4 has made the platform feel significantly more complex, less intuitive, and harder to use for day-to-day editorial needs. Basic tasks that used to be straightforward now take more time and often require extra configuration and a higher level of technical knowledge.

More importantly, Google Analytics isn’t built for real-time newsroom decision-making. The data delay (typically several minutes) makes it far less effective when covering breaking news or other fast-moving stories. For a digital media outlet, that’s a critical limitation.

Compared with specialized tools like Marfeel Compass, which offer real-time audience flow and more immediately actionable insights, GA4 feels out of sync with how modern newsrooms actually operate. It seems better suited to retrospective analysis than to supporting live editorial workflows.

**What problems is Google Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Analytics helps us meet our need for historical data analysis and structured reporting. It enables us to track long-term audience trends, assess acquisition channels, and analyze user behavior over time.

That said, it doesn’t address our more urgent need for real-time audience monitoring, which is critical in a newsroom environment. Because of this, we primarily use Google Analytics for reporting and longer-term strategic analysis, while depending on other tools for real-time decisions.

I like how Google Analytics makes it very easy to show my clients where their traffic is coming from, whether it's organic, direct, paid, or referral. I can easily demonstrate the performance of website SEO to them. It's also really helpful in identifying issues, like when the website traffic goes up or down, and understanding what's happening there. Additionally, the setup is quite easy for someone who has some basic knowledge, and it's not too hard to verify. Overall, it's a useful tool for tracking traffic trends and providing clear insights.

Oh, yeah. There is a little bit something like, how to improve these pages if they can show in future. Then it will be a good thing.

What I like best about Google Analytics is its flexibility in customizing reports and how effectively it supports my daily reporting needs. I use it every day, mainly to create weekly performance reports, and it makes tracking key metrics like Traffic, Users, New Users, Pageviews, and Bounce Rate very straightforward.

I especially appreciate how I can tailor reports using filters.. for example, applying a “host exactly matches” filter and excluding certain paths (like “blog”) to analyze core website traffic, and then adjusting those filters to review blog performance separately. This level of customization makes it easy to break down data exactly how I need it.

Another standout feature for me is the Pages and Screens report, which helps me quickly identify top-performing pages. This allows me to monitor traffic trends and make informed decisions when planning content and optimization strategies.

Overall, the ability to customize data views and easily track performance insights is what I like most about Google Analytics.

What I dislike about Google Analytics is that the platform can sometimes be slow to load, especially when working with larger datasets or applying multiple filters. This can make the reporting process a bit time-consuming during daily use.

Another major limitation for me is the inability to save customized report formats without having admin access. Since creating tailored reports with specific metrics and filters is a basic and essential feature, it would be much more efficient if non-admin users could also save their configurations. This restriction adds extra repetitive work, as I have to reapply the same settings each time.

Overall, while the tool is powerful, these usability limitations can impact productivity.

Google Analytics helps me track and understand website traffic and user behavior in a structured way. **What do you like best about Google Analytics?**

Overall Google Analytics is a great tool for monitoring website performance. You can track metrics like page views, session length, bounce rates, page sources, and more. The reporting tools are incredibly in-depth, and if used effectively, will help you understand what needs to be strengthened on your site. For example, using GA, we discovered that a recently announced product, which had a lot of hype around it, was not converting well. Although our page views were high, our conversion rates were very low (0.2%). We investigated further and discovered that our average engagement time was only 19 seconds, and most users were not scrolling below the fold. These metrics allowed us to make informed decisions on how to strengthen this PDP and increase sales. We added key features above the fold, more lifestyle images, and a demo video which in the following quarter increased conversion rates to 1.9% and average engagement time to 1 min 20 seconds. These are great results for entirely organic traffic, so we were extremely pleased in how Google Analytics helped us increase conversions.

Another thing I use GA for is to report the revenue generated by the many marketing platforms we use (Dotdigital, Attentive, Athos and more). Some marketing platforms' attribution models are too broad which can skew the results, and falsely claim attribution, but Google Analytics reporting is truthful and unbiased. So we use GA as our 'source of truth' for honest, unbiased reporting.

I use Google Analytics every few days to track our website data, and find it easy to navigate now that i've used it for over a year.

**What do you dislike about Google Analytics?**

It can be a bit confronting at first, as there is a lot going on inside Google Analytics. I recommend following the native tutorials, and watching some Youtube videos to help you navigate the software.

**What problems is Google Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In addition to general website performance reporting, Google Analytics helps us track revenue metrics truthfully. We have worked with a number of marketing platforms, including Klaviyo, DotDigital, Attentive, and Athos, and sometimes these platforms have broad attribution models that allow them to falsely claim attribution. Within each of these companies' native reporting dashboards, their revenue attribution is always significantly higher than what is recorded in GA. So we use GA as our 'source of truth' to provide unbiased data and assess the true performance of these companies.
