The positive aspect of GoodData that I like most is that it helps build confidence in decision making. Being aware of the fact that the numbers will not change overnight makes me talk to the teams better. What I dislike about GoodData is that change can be really sluggish in cases where business questions change. Even minor changes can involve additional procedures, which influences my performance when it is essential to meet a strict deadline. I like GoodData's responsive support team; they react promptly and usually solve my problems. For example, once they recreated my data model from a backup when I accidentally deleted an important table. I also appreciate the unified reports in GoodData, which are well organized into dashtabs. The most important one: every metric from the dataset has to be redefined as a metric in GoodData, meaning if I have clicks in my dataset, I cannot just use it right away, I have to define that clicks = select sum(clicks) and that adds complexity to the report creating process. My preferred solution would be being able to add metrics to report and only if I'm not happy with sum I could choose another aggregation. Learning GoodData was quite cumbersome for me. I like GoodData's flexibility. We can create metrics that reference other metrics, and it handles all the SQL for us. Creating reports is easy in the UI, but we can also make changes via code when needed, so we're not forced into one way of doing things. The metrics language MAQL, although it has a bit of a learning curve, is quite powerful once you get the hang of it. It allows us to build metrics upon metrics without writing SQL, as it is all handled by the data model. Switching to GoodData has allowed the Data team to create or update reports in hours or minutes instead of weeks or months, which was the case with our in-house platform. The factor that I like best about GoodData is its flexibility once it has been established. I am using it on a daily basis to create dashboards that integrate with our CRM and SQL database and it fits well in our existing stack. The features count also allows me to make sales and ops views without changing tools throughout the day. The biggest negative aspect to me is that certain features are too complicated to use with smaller requests. It may be more work than I expected when I am in a hurry and require changing clothes, and this influences my working process. I think the ability to create different dashboards and share them with different people is great. I really like having different visualizations and the same visualization across different dashboards for things that are needed. I think it'd be a lot nicer to be able to define your own metrics at certain times. Sometimes the metrics can be quite tricky and challenging to work with the MAQL code.
