## GoLand Reviews
 ### 1. Best code editor for Go

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nitish K. | Swe, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

The best part about Goland is the customisation and easier navigation that you can do.

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

Something that i don't like about Goland is it tries to sync dependencies anytime i open my go.mod file.

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Goland is a code editor designed specifically for the Go programming language. Since I primarily write code in Go, Goland has become my preferred editor. I have also used VS Code in the past, but in my experience, it doesn't come close to what Goland offers.

 ### 2. Goland makes me more productivy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David N. | OPS/R&D, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2025

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

Smart code completion (struct fields, methods, interfaces)

Live code analysis with suggestions and quick fixes

Refactoring tailored to Go (e.g., extract method, rename, move)

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

High RAM and CPU usage compared to lightweight editors, and slower startup time.

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In large Go codebases, it's hard to track where functions, variables, or types are used or declared. So it helps me quickly understand and move through my code

 ### 3. Incredible

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diego M. | Senior backend Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

Easy to configure
Plugins marketplace
But especially the git conflict solving screen

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

It takes a large amount of RAM but with a good machine this is not an issue

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Day-to-day development in golang

 ### 4. Goland IDE for developing and debugging Applications written in Go language

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit K. | Software architect, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2023

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

Made to work with the Go programming language
Folks familer with IntrelliJ or other jetbrains IDE like pycharm would find it very easy to work with
In other IDE for go language like VSCode so much initial setup is required which makes it difficult to work with other IDE
Consistency in jetbrains IDE so that switching from one language to another langauge does't bother you much ie you don't have to learn new shortcuts and do google how to customize your IDE

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

It's community version is not available and only 1 month trial version is available that too after signing with your mail id
license price is costly hence making it difficult to buy when you are working with small startup and don't have a budget for costly license even though they have a special price for startups but that also is not cheap for some parts of the world
instead of releasing new IDEs for every language, they coulld also release them as an extension like in VSCODE so that users don't have to install multiple IDE in their system

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Go language development and debugging IDE

 ### 5. It's Jetbrains! All time Great!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asif A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

That's great to hear! Both PyCharm and GoLand are popular and highly regarded integrated development environments (IDEs) for programming in Python and Go, respectively. It's not surprising that you find them to have a similar feel, as many modern IDEs share similar features and design philosophies.

PyCharm is known for its intelligent code completion, error checking, and robust debugging capabilities. It also offers excellent integration with popular Python frameworks and libraries, making it a favorite among Python developers.

GoLand, on the other hand, is specifically designed for Go programming, offering features like intelligent code navigation, quick-fixes, and on-the-fly code analysis. It also has a built-in terminal and support for Go modules, making it a great choice for Go developers.

In conclusion, it's great that you have found both PyCharm and GoLand to be effective tools for your programming needs. Enjoy using them!

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

I was initially excited to try GoLand as I heard a lot of good things about it, but my experience was marred by the high price. I understand that JetBrains has a reputation for providing top-quality products, but I feel that the cost of GoLand is simply too steep for the average user or small development team. While it does offer a wealth of features and a user-friendly interface, I cannot justify the high cost when there are other more affordable options available in the market. If you're working on a large development project with a generous budget, GoLand may be worth considering, but for the average user, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using GoLand for a few months now and I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed. This IDE is specifically designed for Go programming and it definitely shows. It's made coding so much smoother for me.

One of my favorite features is the code navigation. It's so easy to find what I need and get around my codebase. And the error detection is top-notch too. No more struggling to find that pesky bug, GoLand helps me get to the bottom of things in no time.

Debugging has never been easier thanks to GoLand's advanced capabilities. And with built-in support for Go testing frameworks, I can quickly run and debug tests without any hassle.

Go modules? No problem. GoLand makes it a breeze to manage dependencies and streamline my development process. Plus, the intelligent code completion saves me so much time and makes coding even more fun.

And let's not forget about refactoring. GoLand makes it a snap to restructure my code and keep things organized.

All in all, I'm super happy with GoLand and would definitely recommend it to other Go developers. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it for the time and headaches it saves me.

 ### 6. GoLand: A Robust and Intuitive IDE for Go Programming

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** DEEPANSHU U. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2023

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

Intelligent code completion: GoLand is able to accurately predict what you are trying to write and offers suggestions accordingly, saving you time and effort.

Refactoring tools: GoLand has a robust set of refactoring tools that allow you to easily restructure and clean up your code.

Debugging and testing: GoLand has excellent support for debugging and testing, with features such as a graphical debugger, test runner, and coverage tool. These features make it easy to identify and fix issues in your code, ensuring that your application is reliable and bug-free.

Integration with version control systems: GoLand integrates with popular version control systems such as Git, Mercurial, and Subversion, making it easy to track and manage changes to your code and collaborate with other developers.

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

As with any software product, GoLand has its own set of strengths and weaknesses compared to its competitors. Some potential disadvantages of GoLand include:

Cost: GoLand is a paid product, with a license currently priced at $199. This may be a barrier for some developers, particularly those on a budget or those who are just starting out and may not be willing to invest in a paid IDE.

Limited support for other languages: While GoLand is an excellent IDE for Go programming, it does not offer the same level of support for other languages. If you work with multiple languages and need an IDE that can support them all, GoLand may not be the best choice.

Fewer plugins and extensions: GoLand has a relatively small selection of plugins and extensions compared to some of its competitors, such as Visual Studio Code or Sublime Text. This may be a drawback for developers who rely heavily on plugins and extensions to customize and extend the functionality of their IDE.

Lack of a built-in terminal: GoLand does not have a built-in terminal, which means you will need to use an external terminal or console to run command-line tools. This may be inconvenient for some developers who prefer to have everything within the IDE.

Overall, while GoLand is a powerful and feature-rich IDE, it may not be the best fit for every developer. It is important to carefully consider your own needs and preferences before choosing an IDE, and to weigh the pros and cons of each option.

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I found it has numerous features that make the development process smoother and faster. Like the code completion, debugging, and testing tools are all excellent that helped me write efficient and bug-free code. The interface is user-friendly, and the overall experience is smooth.

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

Overall its all positive, however, one thing that is frustrating is the cost. As it is not a free tool and requires a paid license to access all its features.
I would appreciate it if JetBrains offered a more generous free trial period so that users can get a better sense of the product before making a purchase decision.
Other than that, I have no major complaints about GoLand and continue to find it a useful and valuable tool for my development projects.

 ### 8. Just the best editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ranu S. | Software Developer, AI and ML Engineer., Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2023

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

Auto-fill or suggestions provided by it are the best. The integrated terminal can be used for quick deployment over the repository, and the branch can be tracked from the editor itself. Multiple projects can be opened in multiple windows. Very user-friendly and easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

Its paid, so everyone will not purchase its subscription. But I will definitely buy it again and again. Also a bit memory intensive but now a days every programmer is having 16GB of memoery.

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a Golang programmer working on almost three projects simultaneously. So for editing and managing these projects, I am using this editor. No need to go to git and push code from there. Just do it from terminal itself.

 ### 9. Extensive tooling to help you efficiently write Go programs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2023

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

GoLand is a great tool with a lot of extensions that help you customise your IDE the way you want. It works great out of the box and helps with basic things such as jumping through code.

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

Although GoLand is more powerful as a tool, for simple usage and starting out I find it a bit slow and complex. Once you get the hang of it though it is a great tool,

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GoLand helps me day-to-day with programming. It also offers a great pairing tool which has been very useful when working on a piece of code together with a colleague.

 ### 10. Easy to use, but occasionally confusing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2023

**What do you like best about GoLand?**

GoLand's "intelli-sense" or code completion is often helpful, syntax highlighting is helpful

**What do you dislike about GoLand?**

The auto-wrapping of if statements is often annoying

**What problems is GoLand solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Writing Go code
