"Secure permission‑driven CRM for small biotech teams, missing key native integrations"
4/5
What do you like best about GoCRM?

What I like best about GoCRM is its all‑in‑one full‑funnel marketing paired with flexible permission controls, which really fits our small biotech startup here in Boston. Our BD folks spend most of their time chasing academic labs and licensing partners, so having website‑generated leads automatically flow right into the CRM saves us tons of busywork. Not long ago, we got an incoming collaboration request from Northeastern BioResearch Lab through our site form. That lead immediately landed inside GoCRM and got auto‑assigned to our BD representative. He could jot down meeting notes after our Vectera video calls, mark follow‑up tasks, and log their pre‑clinical research priorities. Our marketing and operations team could view that same record without waiting for someone to forward emails back and forth. As IT & Operations Specialist, I really appreciate how I can tweak permissions at a fine level. We once had a junior marketing intern get portal access and tried editing confidential licensing terms for Northeastern BioResearch Lab. GoCRM blocked that edit right away. That’s huge for us, since we handle unpatented study data that we cannot risk getting altered. Sure we still have to manually paste LucidLink document links and clean up messy CSV imports for foreign research institutions, but this tool gives our small team a safe single place to manage all our collaborators and licensing prospects. What do you dislike about GoCRM?

Even though GoCRM works well for lead routing overall, quite a few gaps force us to do a lot of extra manual work for our biotech workflows. There aren’t any pre‑made fields tailored for biotech, so things like patent filing status, material‑transfer‑agreement status and trial progress have to go into plain text boxes. I remember one incident with Northeastern BioResearch Lab. Important notes about their pre‑clinical timeline were buried inside unstructured text. One of our rotating BD staff almost missed those critical constraints before hopping on our Vectera partner call. If we had gone into that meeting uninformed, we would have sent completely misaligned partnership proposals. The CSV bulk import does not offer any preview before uploading. Whenever I bring in lists of international research partners, lab names with accented characters get garbled. I need to open every single new record and fix those messed‑up names myself, pulling me away from my regular security tasks. There are no native connections to LucidLink, our secure document storage. Our team manually copies links into records, and one rep nearly sent an old draft link to Northeastern BioResearch Lab mid‑negotiation. Reporting is also built for standard sales, not biotech licensing. I have to export datasets and build charts in Excel to track our academic‑partner pipeline metrics. It would be awesome to get biotech custom‑field templates, CSV preview function and document‑storage integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
