## GitBook Reviews
 ### 1. Effortless Project Documentation with Smooth Deployments and Helpful Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2026

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

It’s so easy to document all of your project work. You also don’t need to worry about syncing with GitHub—your progress is always safe. The support team is very helpful, and deploying the site is smooth as well. The AI tasks are really useful for formatting and designing your documents. The price is affordable, too.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

While GitBook is a powerhouse for documentation, it isn’t without its share of frustrations. A major drawback is the pricing structure, which can feel steep for small teams or individual creators, especially when you compare it with free, open-source alternatives.

Another pain point is the shift away from a markdown-centric workflow toward a more proprietary, block-based editor. That change has alienated some developers who prefer full control over their source files and a more transparent editing process. On top of that, GitHub-to-GitBook synchronization can be finicky at times, resulting in merge conflicts or formatting discrepancies that end up requiring manual cleanup. Finally, if you need deep UI customization, the current theming limitations can feel restrictive.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gitbook is solving our problem of documenting everything with better UI. Previously it was google docs which was verrryyy boring to read documents on also this provides easy image insertions and everything.

 ### 2. Gitbook is the best place to make your website!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge D. | Game Programmer and Game Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

I could upload a website completely free. Setting up and editing the website is extremely easy and intuitive, and best of all, I received very fast and helpful response by the team.

Natasza was so eager to help. She's the best!

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

Its a little bit unclear and messy right now when it comes to their plans. It seems like you have to ask for permission for the community plan, which is simply what Gitbooks would claim is for free anyways. I'm not sure why they need you to make a formal request for something like this, but the team answered me really fast and approved my application to the community plan so it wasn't really a big problem.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to quickly and intuitively create a website with giffs and a cool structure for good and comprehensible documentation on the software I've built.

 ### 3. It is rather simple and provides many functionalities that we needed.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ana N. | Managing Director, Management Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

GitBook is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to organize, structure, and share content with both internal teams and external stakeholders. The clean interface, collaborative features, and seamless publishing process allow us to maintain professional documentation without needing advanced technical knowledge. It’s also very flexible and scales well as our projects grow.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

There’s not much to dislike, but maybe more advanced formatting options would make it even better.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GitBook helps us centralize and simplify our documentation, which is especially important for a non-profit organization that works with diverse teams and volunteers across different countries. Instead of scattered files and hard-to-track updates, we now have one accessible, well-structured hub where everyone can easily find and contribute to resources. This saves us time, improves collaboration, and ensures continuity even when team members change.

 ### 4. Non-Profit Friendly and Easy to Love

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David T. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2026

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

Non-profit friendly, simple interface, easy integrations.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

Nothing yet! To be honest, it’s giving us a base to build off of. A great service to the community.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knowledge management, it helps us expand and scale properly!

 ### 5. GitBook Made Our Agency Workflows Clear and Simple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prajakta T. | Digital Marketing Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

we love how clean and organized GitBook feels. It helps us create and manage our SOPs, client processes, and team guides all in one place. The interface is simple, the editing experience is smooth, and it’s super easy to collaborate across our team — even non-technical members can use it without confusion. It really cuts down on time wasted searching for scattered docs.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

There is no issue, i am using since 1 year

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ithelps us keep all our marketing processes, guides, and SOPs in one organized place. It’s made team collaboration and onboarding much faster and easier.

 ### 6. Easy to Use, Yet Deeply Powerful features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2026

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

It is like an onion of awesome feature, i can get going with the really easy to use editor, but also can deep dive into the nuanced permission management / merge rules. There has been nothing i want to do that i couldn't handle !

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

No, I can't really think of anything, it's great.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online documentation and collaborative document review and editing on a global timeframe

 ### 7. Clean and organized documentation for my teams!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh S. | Database & Systems Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

I enjoy the built-in page organization structure and the rich searching features that highlight specific pages and headers where search terms appear. My teams frequently need to reference our SOPs to accurately complete our work, so it is very helpful to be able to rely on more consistent searchability compared to disorganized storage in Google Docs. Additionally, the customer service and support has been quick, responsive, and helpful.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

For teams that primarily or exclusively use the web editor as opposed to local repositories synced with GitHub, I would like more documentation and features for creating a backup of my documentation that's cleaner than downloading all of the docs as PDFs.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team does data entry, among other things, which means we have accumulated many specific processes over the years. We previously documented these in Google Docs, but found the search capabilities in Drive lacking, which meant that folks did not use SOPs which would then eventually become out of date. Our team has found GitBook much more reliable to keep our docs organized, up-to-date, and easy to search through to find information. And we've found that the easier it is to use the SOPs, the more likely it is that they are maintained.

 ### 8. A transformative documentation experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariam M. | Platforms Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

The intuitive interface, accessibility, ease of use, versioning, rich content formats

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

It would be great if we could select "Apply header to all pages" so that we have one common banner in all pages especially when we need to update it.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GitBook has transformed how our organization creates and shares product guides and playbooks, presenting our documentation in a neat and well-organized manner. The intuitive interface allows our team to quickly build comprehensive guides while maintaining accessible formatting that serves diverse audiences. For an organization like ours working on tech for social impact, GitBook enables us to transform documentation into a strategic asset that amplifies our mission.

 ### 9. Effortless Documentation and User-Friendly Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben S. | Professor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

Very easy to use and focuses on creating documentation. Easy for users to review the documentation. It also syncs with a number of different services.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

For me, GitBook works very well. I think the organization -> docs structure is a bit odd, but it isn't a big deal.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GitBook is a place to make documentation for software projects. I use it for some open source projects.

 ### 10. GitBook is an amazing tool for us and our students at Polytechnique Montréal.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chrystel N. | Conseiller principal en solutions infonuagiques, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2025

**What do you like best about GitBook?**

Ease of use, ease of implementation. I use it every day as a teacher and share labs with my students through GitBook, and they love it much more than receiving lab tutorials as Word documents.

**What do you dislike about GitBook?**

I think that when you set up your organization, the wizard should show you the kind of default URL it will generate, so you can get an idea of how your subdomain will look.

**What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The way we publish, share, and restrict access to our educational content at Polytechnique Montréal, particularly regarding labs and technical tutorials.
