Having a Turnitin subscription has given the teachers on my campus a piece of mind that they did not previously have. Due to the increase in AI for completing assignments, teachers were spending hours on end trying to assess whether students used AI to complete assignments. Then they were having tense meetings with parents because they did not feel the free originality websites were fair or accurate. Having Turnitin as our agreed-upon baseline has made the expectations clear for students and parents and given teachers back time because they can use it easily for every writing assignment without having to double-check students' work. Due to the ever-changing nature of AI, sometimes the AI assessment can seem unreliable. But I know Turnitin is actively working on being as up to date to address new concerns as they continue to develop and grow. It can also be a little confusing to use the first few times.
