"Familiar, Easy-to-Learn 2D CAD for Reliable DWG Drafting"

What do you like best about DraftSight?

I like most about DraftSight is that it feels familiar if you have already worked with traditional 2D CAD software. The interface is easy to understand, and I can create and edit DWG files without spending a lot of time learning the software. The basic drafting tools are straightforward, and file compatibility is good, which is important when working with customers, vendors, and existing drawings.

I also like that it is not unnecessarily complicated for regular 2D drafting work. For day-to-day drawing creation, modification, dimensioning, and documentation, it does the job without a steep learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DraftSight?

The main thing I dislike is that some features and workflows are not as smooth as they could be compared with more mature CAD platforms. Performance can also become noticeable when working with large or complicated drawings. Some commands and settings take a little time to get used to, especially when switching from another CAD system.

I would also like to see better automation and customization options, along with a more modern and consistent user experience across different tools. For basic 2D drafting it works well, but there is still room to improve the overall workflow for users working on more complex projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?

DraftSight mainly solves the need for a practical 2D CAD tool for creating, editing, and reviewing DWG drawings. It helps me work with existing DWG files without having to completely change my workflow or spend a lot of time learning a new system.

It is useful for day-to-day drafting, drawing modifications, documentation, and sharing drawings with customers and other teams. The biggest benefit for me is that it keeps the 2D CAD work relatively simple and familiar, while still providing the tools needed for regular engineering and drafting requirements and getting good support.
