I really like that Dovetail HR is extremely easy to configure and set up. It's a tool specifically made for HR and not IT (like many other tools are), which makes it straightforward to set things up exactly how you want, provided you have a clear understanding of the data structures as your core configuration. We've been using it for about five years, and the structure has remained completely solid even through major restructures and carve-outs, all maintained by just one person, which is me. I also appreciate that it's a smaller company because it means we get really personal service and customer support. I've had instances where I raised a low-priority case and received a response before their system could trigger an automatic confirmation email, which is something you don't experience every day. I don't like the reporting functionality, and I know they are working on it. At the same time, that is not so important for us because we are not using the tool primarily to report on KPIs etc. We are using it to provide a functional service that gives us a low threshold for using it. You don't have to have something big and complicated. But for my own sake, who really likes data, I would love to have the reporting tool easier to use.
