"Context-Aware Coding and Debugging for Complex Engineering Workflows"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Devstral Medium?

Devstral Medium is particularly useful for engineering tasks that require understanding more than one part of a codebase. I use it for things such as debugging, reviewing backend changes, and tracing how changes in one component can affect related services or APIs.

What I find most useful is the way it can work through the surrounding context before suggesting a change. For example, when reviewing a payment-related workflow, I can provide the relevant implementation and ask it to look at retries, timeouts, idempotency, state transitions, and test coverage together rather than treating each piece separately.

It is also useful for multi-file work because the response can connect related implementation details instead of only explaining an individual function. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Devstral Medium?

The quality of the result depends heavily on how much technical context is provided. When the surrounding implementation or expected behavior is unclear, the model can make reasonable assumptions that still need to be checked against the actual codebase.

For more complex changes, I also prefer breaking the task into smaller review steps rather than relying on one large prompt. The generated code and recommendations still need normal engineering review before being used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
