What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?

SolidEdge has so many features it is mind-boggling. To avoid getting lost in all the features, SolidEdge has this awesome feature where you can search function from the help bar. When it finds the function you want to use, it highlights it and shows where to access it on the toolbar. It also gives a really nice summary of the function and a link to access the help file at the location where it can be found. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?

I don't like the fact that the interface needs some basic training to fully understand and gauge is needed to create a model. Having come from a SolidWorks environment, it was a bit of a challenge to manage the transition myself. A lot of the confusion was created between the transition from Ordered to Synchronous type modelling, which is difficult if Ordered was the method you were used to. Recommendations to others considering Designcenter Solid Edge:

SolidEdge is a really powerful tool for any company that needs to use CAD, just make sure that along with the budget for the initial purchase of licences, that you have allocated budget for training users. It is imperative to have proper training on SolidEdge before you actually buy the software as the amount of time spent figuring features out can add up to a lot. What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?

SolidEdge solves many business problems with regards to the quality of Computer Aided Design (CAD) data. The data that is output from SolidEdge is able to be immediately imported, automatically, into Siemens TeamCenter, ensuring links between models are never broken and that the data is safely stored. Once up and running with SolidEdge, it is really easy to take a product from concept to manufacture with the addition of being able to generate really nice marketing material through the built in KeyRender application.
