I really like its clean, intuitive, and user-friendly interface with no unnecessary confusion. One of my favorite implementation by tool is the key icon selection during data mapping, which makes it easy to identify the unique identifier. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** I’ve been using Demand Tools for over a year, but recently, as a Salesforce developer/Admin, I noticed a major gap when comparing it to Salesforce Inspector. In Salesforce Inspector, we can perform all DML operations directly, and it automatically detects the primary key while mapping data. It also displays detailed errors next to each individual record during operations, making troubleshooting easier. In contrast, Demand Tools still only shows an overall error summary, without record-level error details — a feature I believe it’s still missing. I dislike about this implementation missing in Demand Tools. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Demand Tools makes bulk data work in Salesforce so much easier. I use it for updates, uploads, and cleaning up duplicates, and it’s saved me a ton of time compared to other tools like data loader. We have ones for specific kinds of malformed data, ones for really obscure and rare match criteria (e.g. one of a contact’s parent’s email addresses + contact first name matches), etc.. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Using it with Dynamics. Nobody we’ve spoken with at support knows about Dynamics, all documentation is written for Salesforce, and nearly every bug we encounter is never-before-seen and the fix has to be slated for a future release. We’ve actually hardly gotten it working at all yet due to this. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our database is ~20% duplicates, so we need a highly robust solution to handle them. It would benefit us enormously if it worked. The frequent refresher trainings really helps admins easily get back into using this product. The customer support portal is filled with videos and articles that are easily accessible and very helpful. We frequently sign in/out of sandbox and production to make changes to the data in both environments. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The only issue I have which I understand is unique to our organization is that with the frequent updates released, I have to contact our IT department to get their help with admin credentials to install the new versions. I have used Demand Tools at many previous companies, large and small and now with our clients and one thing remains the same, DTV meets all needs. I have been able to customize the modules to fit the needs of the database, use cases and enablement processes to achieve amazing results. As I started at my last company, the first thing I did was to utilize the Assess feature. I used this day one to set a baseline for our data quality and then set it to run monthly. I brought these reports to my 90 day, 6 month and annual reviews. Not only would I not start a new role without DTV, I relied on this to prove the outcomes of our database improvements! The support team behind it is also amazing! Have a question? Each is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it, and all have the ability to save Templates to repeat process over and over. The Object deduper allows for you to operate similar to the salesforce DEDUPE operation, across ANY objects. you can define rules that score which record to take as the master, so that bulk dedupe jobs can be relatively hands off. I have used this tool in it's various forms for 14+ years now. Early on, it was the only tool that did some of the jobs it can do. Now there are others, but this still hold true as a useful tool. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** We were not thrilled with the licening model that changed from individual licenses (which were our Admins) to being based on total users, where we have Thousands. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mass cleanup of data, Object Deduping, COmparison of data across several objects, mass updates of data as business rules change. **Official Response from Olivia Hinkle:** > Thank you for sharing your experience with DemandTools. It's a powerful tool and can do alot, and it does take some time to get used to using it. I have to move Accounts, and all related records, from one Rep to another, multiple times a month. Demand Tools has saved me hours of work becasue it can handle multilevel records movement or reassignment. I also do not need to use Excel spreadsheets and do V-Look ups to locate SFDC Id's. Demand Tools is tales care of all that, and lets me choose the name of the new Owner of all those records. Dedupping is an important feature for us. We had to turn off SFDC's built in duplication prevention processes, due to our integration. So we have to use Demand Tools to dedupe our Data every month. We recently updated our Industry picklist values for example, and simply prepared a csv with all the new Industry values that the old values mapped to, and after a quick import in DemandTools our CRM was updated to reflect our new industry definitions. This standardized data is foundational to our go to market motion (marketing segmentation and sales prospecting). ### 41. I'm at the point where a company has to have DemandTools for me to even consider working for them. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The only think I don't like about DemandTools is while their Power Grid product is super helpful when I create a scenario and pull up some data I can't go back and modify the filters that I've used to pull that data. I can save the scenario and then load it again to play with the filters a bit but it's a few extra steps that could be avoided if they just had a 'modify filters' button or something similar. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** DemandTools can be an expensive resource, especially if you have a lot of Salesforce users in your org, but it pays for itself over and over in time saved. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** There is tremendous value in the time I've saved using Reassign Ownership, Mass Effect, Power Grid, Find IDs, Single Table DeDupe within DemandTools. The time savings is huge and time is money so it pays for itself over and over in the normal course of business. As a Salesforce administrator I use DemandTools every. single. day. ### 42. Previously, writing a query and trusting the base dataloader to write complex queries and subsequently make mass updates was cumbersome and time consuimg. With DemandTools, everything is simplified (and this was even before the upgrade to DemandTools V)! **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Some of the new features in DemandTools V are a bit more complex than in the previous UI. However, this is more of a user issue so my only complaint would be to publish more help articles or hold some more 101/201 sessions to make sure we're using the tool to it's full capabilities. Email verification could be better, we notice discrepancies with our other tools so haven't leveraged that fully. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** On the lowest level, data updates. However, it has now become our data manager on every level. Whether that be restricted to duplicates, easier queries (finding record IDs for example), matching criteria simplified, and finally being able to save these various scenarios to streamline the process to save valuable time on other adjacent projects. ### 43. I can upload a spreadsheet I've pulled out of Salesforce, or I can pull a report in Demand Tools directly from the Salesforce platform. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The User Interface seems to be a little outdated. Once you figure it out it's straightforward, but it's not as easy as Salesforce. There are a few things that make it difficult to navigate unless you know where to go, like having to select a line item and press the delete button in order to unselect it. There are also places that you have to drag and drop and others that you have to click the arrows and there isn't much instruction letting you know to do that. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data management could not be handled without this tool! There is no way our staff could manage our office without it, there is not enoguh manpower to do things manually. This is an extremely valuable tool on a daily basis to update records, move records, and clean up data throughout the entire system. ### 44. It is also used by our marketing department to clean and scrub account data among other items. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** We do implementations and data clean up on Salesforce and this tool is invaluable at cleaning up and population of data. It allows uploads, deletes, and updates. It also allows us to get at data in the system that is difficult to pull with a salesforce report or if the report types are lacking fields. ### 49. The ability to perform mass operations such as mass record merge, mass lead convert, and extremely fine tuned matching is what makes this tool a MUST HAVE for any admin of a large organization seeking to maintain clean data. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The pricing really should not be based on the SF user count, as this changes constantly. It would be nice to have a fixed price based on something a little more finite, like actual Demand Tools users, API usage, or something similar. Also, in a purely technical sense, the ability to match based on a text string in a non-restricted picklist would be helpful. Also, auto-mapping would be nice if column headers match the field name/label. Currently, the mapping must be done manually. (Although you can store the mapping, so the pain is only really the first time) **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mass lead convert is excellent. Single table dedupe has allowed me to identify and merge thousands of duplicate records in one fell swoop.
