"Effortless SQL-to-BigQuery Models That Just Work"
5/5
What do you like best about dbt?

I simply love how I can write regular sql select statements and then dbt takes care of translating those into views and tables within bigquery w/o requiring constant supervision. After loading large amounts of data into the warehouse we use dbt to prepare those datasets for looker and tableau, and creating partitions or clusters in the config file is as simple as I could have hoped so our queries complete quickly. I've been working a crazy long shift today and I am literally falling asleep sitting here on the couch now and I don't think I would be able to write some sort of epic post... it's just easier to say it works. What do you dislike about dbt?

The cloud ui is annoying. When I'm looking at the result set of a query it defaults to cutting off rows and attempting to copy/paste results from the small browser window is a real pain. And on top of that, I'm stuck with a bad keyboard on this laptop and typing out all these repetitive yaml files has made me want to toss it in the trash. Compiling jinja errors also suck for debugging purposes since the error message is usually so vague that it won't even tell you which line caused the issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
