"dbForge Studio: Familiar like SSMS, but with a powerful debugger and top comparison features"

What do you like best about dbForge Studio for SQL Server?

I have been working with Microsoft SQL Server for decades, and for just as long with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. For about two years now, I have also been using dbForge Studio for SQL Server – and the tool has really convinced me.

What I particularly like: The basic structure is heavily oriented towards SSMS. Anyone familiar with it will quickly find their way around dbForge. At the same time, dbForge offers many functions that provide real added value in the everyday life of database development and management.

A major advantage for me is the integrated debugger, especially because corresponding debugging functions are no longer available in newer SSMS versions. I also find the schema and data comparison very strong. This allows database structures, table contents, and especially stored procedures to be compared and synchronized very comfortably between different databases. This is extremely helpful, especially when working with development, test, and production databases.

The graphical interfaces for these comparison and synchronization functions are also very well done. You can easily understand differences, select them specifically, and adopt them in a controlled manner. This saves time and reduces errors.

Overall, dbForge Studio is a real enrichment for me compared to SSMS. It feels familiar but significantly expands the range of functions in many important areas. For professional SQL Server development and database maintenance, it is, in my view, a highly recommendable tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about dbForge Studio for SQL Server?

As a minor drawback, one could mention that dbForge is not always the fastest tool at startup and the range of functions can seem a bit overwhelming at first. However, this quickly becomes relative once you work with it regularly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is dbForge Studio for SQL Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

dbForge Studio for SQL Server primarily solves the problem for me that many tasks related to SQL Server development, database maintenance, comparison, and synchronization are usually spread across multiple tools. With dbForge, I have many things bundled in a central interface.

I particularly benefit from the comparison of database schemas and data. Especially when development, test, and production databases diverge or procedures exist in different versions, I can quickly identify where differences exist. This saves a lot of time and reduces the risk of manually overlooking changes or transferring them incorrectly.

Another advantage is the available debugger. Since corresponding debugging functions are no longer present in newer versions of SQL Server Management Studio, dbForge helps me a lot in better understanding more complex processes in stored procedures and finding errors more specifically.

Additionally, dbForge makes my daily interaction with SQL Server easier because it feels familiar to experienced SSMS users but is more comfortable and powerful in many areas.
