By utilizing Datadog we had the option to see almost issues at the client's end a lot quicker than previously.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

It becomes tricky to find the data as there are a lot of different data tracked. Usually, it takes a bit of time to fully understand how features work but this is not a big deal since there are plenty of academy courses now.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Datadog to monitor the performance of our applications, detect problems with deployments, and monitor the performance of our mobile applications. We have been able to very quickly identify parts of our application that are not scaling correctly and address them before they become a problem. With DataDog we are monitoring the entire RestEndpoint and its behaviour. We know which endpoint of an application has been called most frequently, and if there is an interruption in any of the endpoints, we are alerted based on the configured threshold value.

Alert based setup which we can customize to the extent. It can be integrated with cloud so less expensive in installation. All types of logs can be monitored and maintained in here

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

Complex Log Ingestion, Indexing and Retention Process which would make us confused. It is quiet costly when comes to logs. We have scaling challenges which leads to performance issues.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us to understand data structure properly which is in return very useful in monitoring and predicting the business cases. It also used to get useful insights like process metrics.

  ### 9. Consolidated view of logs and metrics from across the infrastructure and application stack.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Seeing logs, metrics and tracing across disparate technology stacks makes finding and following problems across a microservice architecture much more straightforward. I find it easier than using AWS Cloudwatch to try and do the same.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

There is a lot of functionality, but some of these areas require configuration for them to work. However, this is par for the course with any monitoring and dashboarding product.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows for the correlation of events across networked microservices without manually copying trace IDs or similar from one logging or tracing system to another. This makes it much quicker and easier to see the impact that one system can have on another.

  ### 10. Love the way it works

The integration process can be complex and time-consuming, especially if they are unfamiliar with the specific tools.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Help organisations monitor their infrastructure, including servers, databases, and networks. This can help identify and resolve issues before they impact users.

  ### 11. Datadog help resolve our support tickets

**Reviewed by:** dinesh g. | Business Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

We use it to understand and analyze the performance of our systems and use it as a way to monitor our system health checks so it saves some effort on the developer side.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

The UI is not the best, and some charts are not user-friendly for a non-techie person. Analyzing queries is not intuitive and requires some training to understand it.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like I mentioned earlier, it helps in understanding the performance of the systems, web applications we build. We also use it as a monitor to ensure there is constant uptime.

  ### 14. Pretty good out of the box solution, but it comes with a price.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Lots of out of the box integrations, overall good usability. Cover a big range of necessary observability for your applications and all integrated in one platform.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

Pricing is pretty high (you pay more to monitor a small k8s ec2 node than the ec2 itself), and I found it hard to pick what you want to measure using Kubernetes integration granularly. Sometimes it is hard to understand how your billing is calculated, and it also charges you multiple times for "same stuff" since it cannot automatically detect integrations. (Ex.: you are charged for AWS node monitoring + k8s node monitoring of the same ec2 instance!). Didn`t like the commercial support either; they only care until they sell it to you.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Observability and traceability of cloud microservices. With its comprehensive set of tools and integrations, it enables end-to-end monitoring of your stack.

  ### 15. Datadog is an Awesome tool to monitor and analyze your logs, metrics in graphical format.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

They have the best UI/Interface to build dashboards and compare data metrics with each other.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

They are not up to the mark when it comes to 3rd party integrations.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are solving all the problems regarding monitoring our cloud environment and helping us to arrive at concurrent decisions in a faster way.

  ### 16. efficient

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

efficient storage of data on the cloud which helps tracking and monitoring

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

too costly and there are many other products out there like datadog

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

able to pull variable information from an agent on each of our servers and have it sent to a centralized location. helps as a one stop place to understand how well our servers and services are doing

  ### 17. Datadog

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan R. | Staff Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Our team uses a number of DD features. We are heavily invested in the dashboards and monitors. We have DD integrated with Slack and Pager Duty and it a primary source of notifications that drives actions w/in our Operations team.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

There is nothing I outwardly dislike. I consider myself an intermediate user, so gaining training and experience using the DD tools is interesting to me. I am especially interested in some of the newer features described at the Keynote today. Service Catalog, Security analysis, Workflows are all features that will integrate nicely w/ our current process suite.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our current implementation of DD is mostly driven around monitoring and alerting of production software and critical systems in our infra.

  ### 18. Datadog is a great tool for multi-environment log aggregation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Grat User Interface (UI), easy to set up and configure, and plenty of integrations with cloud and on-prem solutions. Granular control over the ingested data. Flexible licensing scheme.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

Data normalization and unstructured log ingestion require time and effort. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is not available out of the box and requires a ticket to the Support team. Despite RBAC, access granularity is hard to achieve, especially in an organization with small Site Reliability Engineering teams.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datadog is excellent at dashboarding, alerts and notifications. Alerts can be sent to messaging tools like Slack, MS Teams, SMS as well as email. It is easy to set up and delegate to other team members. Compared to the competition, I think Datadog has the lowest Return Of Investment (ROI) score.

  ### 19. Good monitoring tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

The tool is easy to use, great monitoring feature with customizable dashboard.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

Proper support is not there, training materials / documentation needs to be more clear.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

helps etect errors quickly by having a look at the logs and keep track of the application on real time basis.

  ### 20. Man's Best Friend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill M. | VP of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Log management and visualizations without having to write code. Data Dog is the fastest way to aggregate all your log management into on centralized view. Other products take time and glue code to try and scratch the surface of Data Dogs value.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

The only downside is with how easy it is to use you can get out of hand and drive the cost up right away. Lucky they have come out with monitors and easy ways to dial back to meet your budget.

**Recommendations to others considering Datadog:**

Go install Prometheus and Grafana to understand how much work it is prior to testing Data Dog.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralized log aggregation and application production monitoring. Out of the box you can setup an excellent monitoring and alerting system on your cloud based product.

  ### 21. Strong Observability Solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kipp M. | Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

- Visualizations and Dashboards can be easily derived
- Customer Success Managers are highly-engaged

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

-The price can sometimes be hard to justify to the rest of the company

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataDog is providing observability to all of our enterprise workloads

  ### 22. Great tool for application & infrastructure monitoring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham D. | Management Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

DataDog works as a excellent central resource to manage and monitor all our applications and infrastructure. The best thing about DataDog is that it's quite easy to use and user-friendly along with being a total value for money. Also, it has excellent support and learning resources to be utilized by everyone.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

Some of the integrations and connections docs for setting up are outdated and not very to understand for anyone who is new. The process of setting it up will require you to get in touch with the support team several times. However, they are quite quick and happy to assist as and when needed.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best benefit we've got is the real-time alert on issues of any kind which helps us manage the downtime and the errors. To ensure everything is working as intended, you have complete visibility of the apps. Also, it has great visualizations to be used within the platform.

  ### 23. Best centralized monitoring tool for everything

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anatolij N. | DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Datadog has many integrations for almost everything. It's easy to use if you want to configure the integration. Especially for AWS and Kubernetes, it allows you to start to monitor your cloud infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

Especially for a long time, the cost overview for Datadog usage was very intransparent. Maybe it will be easier with the new Cost Management feature of Datadog.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Datadog, we have all-in-one monitoring tool. Especially centralized logging we are using for analyzing the bugs and errors of our application. It makes us easier to filter specific logs. On the other side infrastructure monitoring makes the life of Cloud engineer easier

  ### 24. good solution for alerts

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

when you are counting this tool as main alerting tool, it has a lag of 5 minutes at minimum

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Get alerts from all kinds of services

  ### 25. It keep track of all cloud instances

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rizwan K. | Process Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Datadog is user-friendly software with a comprehensive UI and enough settings and functionality to meet all of our needs. The most significant operating processes are mechanical and hence simple to use even for those with little familiarity with this equipment.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

While I'm working on new dashboards, it's always difficult to do so since the program is run quite slowly and takes several minutes to begin operating. I believed it was something to do with the machine, but it happened on every computer where Datadog was installed.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datadog is used in my company's IT department to establish and trigger alarms when our systems accomplish a certain activity. We integrated it with ServiceNow, and the results have been fantastic, since it allows us to monitor each of our cloud instances from anywhere, while also storing and indexing Datadog warnings.

  ### 26. A fantastic observability tool

**Reviewed by:** AT W. | Freelance DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

I like the interface and the fact that datadog continues to add new integrations. They support all the major platforms. It is a great tool for DevOps/SRE as well as product engineering teams

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

I would like to have datadog hand kubernetes metrics better. The alerting tools do not handle pod terminations or scaling events effectively. I would also like more advance kubernetes metrics. Improved iac options for configuring datadog

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Full visibility into the service running as well as the infrastructure. We use the logs / tracing for historical tracking to identify new issues and over all health

  ### 28. Datadog Review

Easy setup to monitor clusters in Databricks running Apache Spark. Pre-setup dashboards help to quickly gain insights on a infrastructure level without the needs of DevOps.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

The pricing on the Datadog website could be more precise, such as allowing using a calculator for price estimates

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitoring of cloud infrastructure across major cloud providers

  ### 33. Datadog Helps us Monitor Logs and Create Proactive Alerts

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy V. | Data Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Easy usability, seamless log management and filtering. We're able to quickly build dashboards, share them with the team, and build alerts from them. Avi Verma helped us with our log pipeline/status remapper.

  ### 34. Great SaaS monitoring solution available in the market that supports several platforms

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nitish Chandu O. | Senior Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Datadog has so many integrations available, making it easy to use for AWS, Azure, GCP, On-prem, containers, serverless, and many more. The process to create monitors and dashboards is simple, helping the OPS team to implement the monitoring in quick time. The solution is excellent for application monitoring, as it supports monitoring using traces. Notification in Datadog is excellent as it integrates with Service-Now, Slack bringing immediate attention of the users.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

The support from Datadog is something I see to be improved, as they deal with tickets only on emails. The support team doesn't connect over calls for troubleshooting, and there is no proper escalating process causing a delay in fixing monitoring issues.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team got more productive in terms of identifying and fixing issues upon leveraging Datadog as the monitoring tool for
- infrastructure services that include disk, CPU, memory, uptime, network IN, etc
- application metrics like service availability
- certificate expiries
- monitoring the log files with specific errors
- synthetics that helped us monitor the availability of application URLs

  ### 35. Datadog ✅

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham V. | DevOps Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

It is a SaaS-based tool that removes the overhead of managing the product itself and provides a good experience.
It supports a lot of different types of services such as monitoring servers, databases, etc but what caught my eye was log management and analysis.
Also, provides a variety of visualization to better observe the metrics.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

No dislikes as such, because it is specific to use-cases, how it serves your use-case is the first question to ask, and it got a lot of positives.
Still, One such thing to mention is cost and also sometimes it is overwhelming for new users to use it for the first time.

**Recommendations to others considering Datadog:**

Go for it, try your use-cases using a free trial to get the best suited plans.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Log Management. It provides a good combination of
- ingestion (type of data that can be indexed)
- generating metrics
- live viewing the logs as tailing, and
- log archieval

These are some good benefits and help a lot in debugging the logs at a central location.

  ### 36. Awesome application.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammad W. | Cloud Support Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

The dashboards of each AWS service, the way they display the graphs, the number of metrics collected by the agent, also the number of features to monitor AWS resources allow you to monitor every single detail in your architecture.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

It is a little bit hard to start understanding the concept of datadog and how it works, also the cost of the services. And if possible to restructure the documentation, set proper title, put real case examples cause I did lost everytime so I am working on my own documentation.

**Recommendations to others considering Datadog:**

Datadog is one of the most sophisticated tools to monitor your cloud services, and it gives you a brief overview of your architecture and facilitate your troubleshooting process from the plenty of features that helps you.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best thing that helps is the logs section, the way DataDog sectioned the logs allows you to pinpoint and spot any abnormal behavior behind high CPU and memory usage. In addition, to that the Database performance and especailly the RDS slow queries.

  ### 37. Real world Datadog review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

The learning curve is not as steep as many other monitoring tools, the auto-discovery and event/trace correlation works very well with very little manual help needed.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

It doesn't native support older technology like Informix so if you have an older stack this might not be ideal

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding the needle in the universe size haystack, micro-services, dbs, cloud, on-prem, it makes finding the problem quick.

  ### 38. DATADOG - One of the best monitoring tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akshay K. | DevOps Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

- Datadog has infra and application-related all types of metrics from those we can monitor very effectively.

- Datadog provides one of the best Dashboards from which we can create - Timeseries, Query value, Top list, Table, Heatmap, Distribution, Treemap, Pie chart, free text, Images, Host map, Log stream, List, Alert value, Service map and many more things also we can create customized Dashboards according to client requirements.

- The pricing for the tool is very less as compared to other APM tools like Dynatrace, Nagios, and many other tools.

- The tool can be deployed in on-premise as well as cloud

- As it is agent based, by installing an agent we can get most of the data in Datadog UI

- Datadog is user-friendly and easy to learn.

- For any issue, we get quick help from the Datadog support team.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

There is nothing to dislike in Datadog but I feel the Datadog needs to increase more documentation and videos to configure the application and infra monitoring and Datadog should show live billing of the used data and should show the billing according to the services we used.

**Recommendations to others considering Datadog:**

Datadog is best monitoring tool as compared to others.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Datadog helped me to show all infra level and application level consumptions from monitors, whenever the threshold is reached, I will get a mail and ticket as I configured Datadog with SNOW so it helped me to prioritize the work.

- Using Datadog live processes I can see the consumption of all the applications so that I can make required changes in the server/application.

- Using Datadog SLA - I can show the percentage of uptime of all the servers and applications to clients.

- using live logs, I can able to check the errors in the Datadog portal instead of login in to the server.

  ### 45. Enterprise grade monitoring with Datadog

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Avinash U. | DevOps Engineer-I, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Datadog?**

Having a single platform for monitoring all kinds of infrastructure is helpful. Datadog has excellent support and learning resources to get started with monitoring our application/infrastructure. There are integrations for almost all types of cloud or on-premise infrastructure and applications. The system is resilient with no issues in terms of performance or outages. The log management and tracing is very convenient using Datadog with features like retention, backup, formatting, and RBAC.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

The documentation for a few integrations is outdated and not always straightforward. You'll have to reach out to support quite a few times while setting it up. While creating new dashboards, it is not autosaved or even suggested for saving, which is a huge pain point if not known earlier.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Datadog for monitoring our infrastructure, logs, and traces, along with monitoring our real users through the UI. It has excellent features for an end to end monitoring once set up correctly and provides a holistic view of our entire infrastructure, helping us debug issues quickly.

We monitor logs across multiple microservices in our infrastructure. I cannot emphasise how critical it is to debug the unhandled exceptions on production. Datadog provides an easy to understand UI unlike other(s) which I have used previously.

**What do you dislike about Datadog?**

I haven't encountered anything as it's been just over a year since I started using Datadog.

**What problems is Datadog solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real-time log streaming helps us monitor the production and lower environment logs for all our microservices. We have integrated datadog with slack as well, so if there is any spike in unusual traffic we trigger the notification to our channel.
