"Powerful APIs Simplify Training, but Bulk Integrations Take Work"
4/5
What do you like best about D2L Brightspace?

I like having one central place for onboarding and training. Automated enrollment through the API removes manual user provisioning, and SSO means I don’t need extra passwords. Completion and assessment data flows into our reporting, so managers can track progress without one-off scripts. The developer platform stands out: the Valence REST APIs are well documented and cover most of what we need, and OAuth 2.0 and LTI 1.3 make it straightforward to integrate our tools. Brightspace Data Sets give us clean analytics exports. The UI is responsive and easy for non-technical colleagues to use. Release conditions and intelligent agents let us automate course flow and reminders without custom code. The Pulse mobile app works well for quick updates, and the platform’s uptime has been reliable. D2L’s onboarding help, developer docs, and community forums also helped us get set up. What do you dislike about D2L Brightspace?

I find the API rate limits and pagination restrictive for bulk syncs, so I had to add batching and retry logic. Some endpoints are missing or inconsistent across API versions, and Brightspace Data Sets refresh with a delay rather than in real time. Admin settings are spread across many menus, and setting up a sandbox for integration testing takes extra effort. The integration setup took longer, and some role and permission settings required trial and error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
