In a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment, customer-facing contact channels like Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems and conversational AI chatbots are traditionally massive blind spots. Cyara Platform bridges this gap by providing an automated testing framework tailored specifically for telecom and AI interactions. We leverage Cyara (particularly its Botium capabilities) to automate security testing against our customer service bots, actively probing for vulnerabilities like prompt injection, PII data leakage, and authentication bypasses. Furthermore, the platform's ability to generate synthetic voice traffic and send custom DTMF tones allows us to continuously monitor our global toll-free numbers, ensuring telecom carriers are routing correctly and our IVR architecture remains resilient against telephony-based fraud or denial-of-service attempts. Because the platform heavily intersects with telecommunications infrastructure, configuring initial test campaigns requires a deep understanding of SIP trunks, ISDN signaling, and voice codec standards—which can present a steep learning curve for pure cybersecurity analysts. Additionally, when mapping highly complex IVR trees for automated regression testing, the system can sometimes struggle with speech-to-text accuracy if the synthetic voice encounters background noise simulation or regional accents, leading to false-positive failure alerts that the SOC has to manually triage.
