"From Data to Live Campaigns Fast—Powerful Liquid Payloads and a Capable AI Agent"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Customer.io?

Two things stand out. First, the event payload is fully exposed, every attribute I send is immediately available in Liquid, so personalising emails and building branching journeys is fast and predictable. Second, the AI agent is genuinely capable. I don't code, but I can hand it a screenshot of a layout I want and get a working HTML template back, and ask it to expose the bits I want to edit so I can change them myself in the visual editor. That combination means I can go from data to live campaign without an engineer in the loop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

A few things to plan for up front. The cost of syncing with our data warehouse was higher than we were led to expect. Snowflake compute adds up quickly once data is moving in both directions, and it's hard to unwind once your architecture depends on it. Second, plan your attribute schema carefully from the start: there's no quick way to merge duplicate attributes once they exist, so near-duplicates accumulate and are painful to clean up later. Third, older versions of Outlook still need manual attention. The AI agent writes clean code and it renders well nearly everywhere, but older Outlook has its own quirks, so anything important is worth testing there before it goes out. What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main thing it solves for us is getting to our data. Events come through with the full payload, so we can build journeys around what people are actually doing instead of a few static fields. We sell in a category where the buying cycle runs months, not days so being able to respond to someone's actual behaviour rather than batch-and-blast makes a real difference. And we can finally report on the whole journey afterwards, not just campaign-level sends. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
