## Confluent Reviews
  ### 1. Effortless Kafka Management with Confluent

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek g. | Devops engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I like how with Confluent, the entire setup can be done from the user interface or API calls, avoiding the headache of managing a self-managed cluster. It's really convenient because you just need to provision the Kafka topic, partition, and consumer groups, and it's ready to use. I appreciate the self-managed clusters, as I don't need to manage the backend infrastructure like other message queue services. The cross-cluster replication is a good feature, which is useful for disaster recovery and other activities. Additionally, estimating the volume of data and provisioning nodes accordingly is straightforward. You can spin it up in 1-2 days, and it's ready for all producers and consumers. Monitoring metrics from the UI and setting up alerts based on specific criteria is also a nice touch.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

For authentication, you cannot use Keytab-based authentication, which is commonly used. Instead, you have to use service account-based authentication, which is generally available. If you want to use Keytab-based authentication, you need to use Confluent Mesh, which is again a paid software. I think Confluent Mesh should be part of the Confluent package itself instead of buying that package separately.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Confluent to manage Kafka without the headache of backend infrastructure. It's easy to provision and monitor from the UI, with features like self-managed clusters and cross-cluster replication, making setup straightforward.

  ### 2. Easy to Configure with Few Skill Requirements

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I extremely like the ease with which I can enable Confluent in my company with just a few clicks, making its setup a truly amazing and hassle-free process. It is not necessary to have particular technical skills or advanced infrastructure skills to start using the platform, which makes it accessible to a wide range of users. This ease of use is further amplified by the ability to do data streaming without the need to manage a complex Kafka infrastructure, which is particularly advantageous and represents a huge saving of time and resources. I also appreciate how Confluent offers a scalable and reliable solution for data streaming in my company, which allows me to integrate it smoothly with other platforms within my IT ecosystem, improving the overall efficiency of operations. Finally, I am satisfied with the ability to have my environment configured and ready for initial tests extremely quickly.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Observability could be improved with more effective out-of-the-box tools, such as searching for messages within topics.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Confluent to enable data streaming without managing a complex infrastructure. It is scalable and does not require specific technical skills. With a few clicks, the system is ready, allowing me to start testing immediately.

**Reviewed by:** Ian M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Confluent has, in the last year, released a lot of additional features that make it simpler to manage the Confluent Kafka infrastructure. My organization manages its infrastructure through Terraform, so having a Terraform provider is a big requirement for us. In addition, Confluent also provides a lot of tooling that is consistently useful (Schema Registry exports, Prometheus monitoring tools, etc).

In addition to this, their support has been useful.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

There are some minor growing pains related to building out the managed Kafka infrastructure at Confluent. As a result, we've had to spend a considerable amount of effort rectifying initial account design decisions that we later found out were incorrect.

To be fair, if we had started using Confluent today, we wouldn't have run into these issues. It's clear that Confluent has made significant leaps since we first started using them 2 years ago.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use an event-based architecture, so utilizing a managed Kafka solution was top of mind. Confluent is used to provide infrastructure that will allow our services to communicate with one another in an event-driven manner.

  ### 8. Confluent Cloud is the easiest and more reliable approach to kafka clusters

Let's start with the good stuff - their cluster management is top-notch! I was impressed by how smooth and efficient it was to manage data streams and workflows. The user interface is intuitive, making it a breeze to set up and navigate through everything.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

However, I must admit that I had some struggles with their connectors. It wasn't as straightforward as I had hoped, and I encountered a few hiccups along the way. I wish the process was a bit more streamlined and easier to grasp.

Despite the connector challenges, the overall experience with Confluent has been positive. They truly excel in cluster management, and their customer support was quick to help me whenever I hit a roadblock.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Confluent is solving the problem of managing clusters and provisioning infrastructure for Kafka, which benefits me by providing a reliable and efficient solution for my data streaming needs. It allows me to focus on my business objectives and data analysis without the worry of managing the complex infrastructure behind it.

  ### 15. Confluent - our favourite Kafka Cloud provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daan C. | Java / JavaScript Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Confluent provides a fully managed Kafka Service, allowing us as developers to focus on building applications rather than managing the underlying infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

When using a fully managed Kafka service, you create a dependency on the provider with some limitations and, of course, a cost.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Confluent gives us the ability to create an event-driven microservices architecture with Kafka.

  ### 16. Confluent makes managing Kafka a breeze

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon B. | Senior Staff Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

The most valuable part of using Confluent is that it cares about the developer experience. The tools they provide are easy to use, so developers can focus on delivering business value and not worry about managing Kafka and its related components. Uptime with Confluent Cloud is top-rate; their support is knowledgable and helpful, and they are willing to jump on Zoom calls to help troubleshoot.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Some configuration settings for Kafka Connect are not exposed on all connectors, and others have limits you cannot override. Lack of IDP-initiated SSO is frustrating, but there are workarounds.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Confluent makes managing Kafka and related services easy; the uptime and configuration work, they make monitoring Kafka easy, and provide an excellent user experience to view billing in near real-time. These things allow me to focus on building new products and delivering value to the company instead of concentrating on managing Kafka.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Best part about confluent is that it's very easy get started with setting up new topics from the confluent dashboard itself and manage allowed producers and consumers. Also it makes it very easy to set up and interact via pipelines on confluent.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

It's not yet real time, there have been a lot of instances where we failed to interpret the exact behaviour just because it'd take considerable amount of time to see updates on message consumptions, consumer lag etc. Also, being the company that confluent is, a better UX is expected from the dashboard.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've changed a lot of existing flows in our company which were initially dependent on webhooks and polling to Kafka based workflows which has inturn helped us with improved success rates of transactions.

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Confluent provides as much or as little assistance as needed to get you up and running with Kafka without the complexity and operational burden of running it yourself.

We prototype using local dockerized Kafka services and flip over to the managed equivalents in our live environments.

Even on a lower tier plan we see excellent uptime and have had no significant disruptions.

When we have had questions Confluent has been able to answer them and provide suggestions both within their offerings and outside of them.

Deployed and configured through Terraform to make infrastructure setup consistent.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

If you are looking specifically for managed Kafka there is really no downside I see to using Confluent.

We don't need to worry about zookeeper
Easy to setup and do configurations very fast

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Docker compose file is not that much feasible, broker is not starting in one go need to restart again and again. That's the main reason we switched to Native Kafka

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to setup on my server, changing configuration is also not challenging like in native.

  ### 24. Best managed kafka service for any scale

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I like the speed of the queues and record, everything went well with the connectors and KSQL. KSQL seems like a very helpfull tool to handle the streams and makes more easier review the topics.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

I didn't like the fact that I'm not able to see which record was successfully sent to a destination, when it fails I'm able to see the details in the DLQ topic but when it's successful I'm not able to see it.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Confluent is the current solution for a huge migration of data, we're changing our source of truth, and confluent helps us with the migration, and the powerfull KSQL performs as ETL

  ### 28. Not cheap, but good service, support and UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

The service has been stable and reliable thus far, and communication with sales and support teams has been good. Overall good documentation - a few things here and there have not been up to date or detailed, but in most cases it's clear and sufficient. The UI is easy to use and provides helpful information regarding application performance.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

We have run into the issue of some configuration options which would have been useful for us not being available in managed connectors. However, I must note that their sales and support teams have been helpful in communicating regarding this issue and proactive in suggesting alternatives and in opening feature requests. We have also had initial struggles setting up connectivity with our existing infrastructure in AWS.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used Confluent Cloud thus far to replace an existing Elasticsearch indexing flow using commands by an event-driven approach using Kafka, which is more robust and performant. We are now moving on to other applications, also involving event stream processing.

  ### 29. Many Built-in Tools and Detailed Documentation and Learning Opportunities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rian B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Confluent provides many standard solutions to accelerate the time to market and development of proofs of concepts. These tools include connectors to commonly used software and easy-to-understand documentation on developing commonly used data streams using KSQL.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

I wouldn't say I liked Confluent's approach to partner enablement learning. I had a previous Confluent training account that couldn't be used for partner enablement learning since my company is a Confluent partner. The workaround is logging into the partner portal and then going to the training account; if you try to go to the training account, it won't recognize the partner credentials. A minor annoyance that doesn't severely inhibit learning Confluent.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Streaming data for real-time insight into the client's traditionally static, batch-based architecture. Confluent allows for creating a central nervous system of data for the entire enterprise, eliminating isolated data silhos.

Confluent Kafka is a fantastic open-source streaming software that lets you build event-driven systems and allows backend systems to communicate with one another. The best thing about Confluent as a platform is that a large community uses it and its support system is like no other. They have excellent documentation on all their products, so all the information you need is available at the tip of your fingers.

Confluent Kafka specifically is helping me connect backend services by taking advantage of their event-driven consumers and producers, and from my experience, they do it better than their competitors at AWS or Apache.
