This makes it easier to trust data, improve data quality, and scale governance in a consistent way. **What do you dislike about Collibra?** 1. While Collibra is a powerful platform, some configurations and workflows can feel complex at first and require a learning curve, especially for new users. 2. I really like it as a unified data intelligence platform that brings together Catalog, Governance, Lineage, Quality, and AI Governance. It’s very helpful for CDO teams to align Business and IT in a single platform and speak the same language. **What do you dislike about Collibra?** The things I don’t like about Collibra are the pricing and the adoption challenges. The learning curve is steep —especially when it comes to using the platform, setting up hierarchies, and configuring lineage diagrams. Sometimes having too many flexible options becomes a headache for end users. **What problems is Collibra solving and how is that benefiting you?** Develop a simple, one-stop solution. The new version is much more powerful than the previous one, though the reporting component still has room for improvement. I trust the CPO will continue to elevate Collibra to the next level. The platform is moving in the right direction, with stronger capabilities and a clearer vision. Roles and responsibilities are unclear, so too many people are pulled into reviews, which dilutes accountability. Approvals get stuck in bottlenecks, and integration with other systems is inconsistent. Policy reviews feel like box-checking rather than meaningful discussions, and all comments are treated equally—so SMEs don’t have enough weight. Notifications are excessive, which encourages quick clicks instead of thoughtful engagement. Technical issues (like PDF upload restrictions) are constant frustrations, and user support is limited when problems arise. **What problems is Collibra solving and how is that benefiting you?** Collibra is being used as a central governance tool to manage policies and approvals across HR and other functions. I find it is very easy to relate the core offerings of the platform to key business issues and propose Collibra as the tool that can solve these issues and thus generate value through cost savings. The documentation makes it very easy to understand what is required for the technical implementation of the platform and integration of it with multiple different data sources. **What do you dislike about Collibra?** 1. Inaccessible Language - I find some of the language used within the Collibra tool adds a barrier to rolling it out successfully as it doesn't seem particularly intuitive to me. ]2. Navigation UI/UX - I find that the biggest barrier to target consumers on site being satisfied with Collibra is navigation. Countless times I hear employees have entered the tool and it has not been intuitive enough for them to find what they want, thus they leave. **What problems is Collibra solving and how is that benefiting you?** Helping users find data faster by themselves. - Reducing reliance on Colleagues. - Increasing available analytics time. - Enabling faster data access requests. - Reduction in duplicate request for analytics (power bi) Impact assessment (downstream lineage) - enabling staff to understand the downstream impacts of their actions without having to rely on support from IT support. - reduction in unintended consequences Data Quality investigations (upstream lineage) - enable staff to understand where DQ issues may have come from. - reduce reliance on IT staff to reverse engineer stored procedures. ### 8. We can now house this info in one platform vs our previous way of keeping data in Excel, Sharepoint slides, multiple areas. Our business users are pleased with the fact that they can now have one place to search for reports vs asking other business users - was very time consuming. **What do you dislike about Collibra?** The technical lineage views and diagram views are very confusing for users. It’s hard to view the end to end because of how many nodes there may be. Confusing for users to understand business lineage vs technical lineage. **What problems is Collibra solving and how is that benefiting you?** Business units were struggling to find data and information. Collibra has helped by decreasing time between DG and business answering these questions since catalog is now available. Developers would use metrics incorrectly because of different calculations but now have information available in Collibra on how and when to use metrics. Users had to spend so much time searching for reports but can now search in catalog. Lineage is helpful for developers when trying to understand source of information ### 10. Previously my organisation used stored procedures automatically triggered on a pipeline to analyse the DQ of data entering the data lake. This meant for every new rule we need to write a new stored procedure each time. Now I can create jobs with multiple rules (and use template rules) which is far quicker than before. **What do you dislike about Collibra?** The tool is quite buggy. I am not an infra expert but it seems every 2-4 weeks I have to engage premium support and my infra department to figure out why jobs are not running. Additionally I find when new releases happen there are often times bug fixed but also bug introduced, especially the most recent 2025.02 release. **What problems is Collibra solving and how is that benefiting you?** The DQ problem at my organisation was that we had no central system to use for DQ. There was no central process and all DQ activity was essentially reactive and ad hoc. However, now with Collibra this is not the case. We can proactively monitor DQ, have a central system where the datasets, rules and results are all in one place, I can provide access to different jobs and rules to different people. The benefit to me is ease of use. As I mentioned we use to use stored procedures which required new stored procs being written for every new rule we wanted.
