What do you like best about Coder?

What I like most about Coder is its developer-first approach. Instead of forcing developers into complex local setups, Coder provides secure, cloud-based development environments that are fast, reproducible, and easy to manage. I also appreciate its strong focus on enterprise security, self-hosting, and infrastructure flexibility, which allows organizations to maintain full control while giving developers a modern, productive experience. As someone with a DevOps and cloud infrastructure background, I enjoy working with platforms that improve the developer experience without compromising security or operational efficiency. What do you dislike about Coder?

One area where I think Coder could continue to improve is making advanced template customization even more accessible. The Template Builder is a great addition and makes getting started much easier, but once you need more complex or organization-specific templates, you still benefit from having Terraform knowledge. As someone with a DevOps background, I enjoy that level of flexibility, but for teams without infrastructure expertise, I'd like to see even more AI-assisted or low-code capabilities that can generate and modify templates automatically. That would make it easier for platform teams to support more developers while keeping Coder's powerful infrastructure-as-code foundation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Coder solving and how is that benefiting you?

Coder solves one of the biggest challenges I face as a freelancer: managing multiple development environments for different clients. Instead of maintaining several local setups or even multiple laptops, I can spin up isolated, cloud-based workspaces for each project. Every client has their own environment with the correct dependencies, tools, and configuration, so I can switch between projects in seconds without conflicts.

This also benefits me by reducing setup time, keeping my local machine clean, and allowing me to work from any device while maintaining a consistent development experience. It lets me focus on delivering work instead of managing development environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
