## CATIA Reviews
 ### 1. Advanced, Industry-Standard CAD Features for Complex Aerospace Design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about CATIA?**

It has some of the most advanced design features, which come in handy when working on complex aerospace projects. I especially like CATIA V6, the newest CAD design version. It includes built-in tools to interpolate wing NACA profiles and generate a wing, and it’s parametric and widely used in the industry.

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

Sometimes the UI feels overwhelming and difficult for a beginner to understand. It also seems expensive compared to other CAD software. Performance-wise, I sometimes feel it requires higher computer specifications to run smoothly; otherwise, it can feel laggy and buggy.

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CATIA mainly helps me design complex CAD geometries smoothly. It’s also parametric design software, which means that when I change something in one component, it stays in sync with other linked geometries. I also like that it can integrate with applications like Excel and Python scripts, and that it can import CAD files created in other software, as long as they’re in a supported file format.

 ### 2. CAD high level in automotive standard

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca C. | R&D, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2023

**What do you like best about CATIA?**

Graphics interface.
Speed in translation from another format and to another format.
Manage for surface and manipulate poles and basic entity.
Interoperability in assembly context.

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

CPU eater, it need very high configuration hardware to run fluences.
From one version to another there are no major feature implementations.
The inability to reproduce an effective rendering.

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working on details with a high aesthetic content, CATIA has always had a good interface to manipulate surfaces in a simple way. This made it possible to develop, upon customer request, an automatic gearbox console from an Italian OEM.

 ### 3. Agile interface and efficient modeling — 100% software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauro M. | Diretor Técnico, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about CATIA?**

Work interface, agility in modeling!

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

I have no comments on that! 100% software

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick development!

 ### 4. PLM-Agnostic Integrations, but V6+ Pushes 3DX for Teamcenter Connectivity

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rathan N. | Plm solutions architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about CATIA?**

Libraries and integration platforms that are agnostic to PLM.

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

V6 onwards force to use 3DX platform for integration with tc

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Product development with cad integration and change management authored in plm

 ### 5. Good for surface modelling

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2025

**What do you like best about CATIA?**

CATIA V5 has a significantly steeper learning curve compared to more user-friendly CAD tools like SolidWorks or Inventor.
While file compatibility is generally acceptable with neutral formats like STEP or IGES, I have encountered difficulties when collaborating with others who use different CAD platforms. Nevertheless, integration within the Dassault ecosystem is smooth and effective.

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

CATIA V5 is a powerful, industry-leading tool, though it is not the easiest software to learn, implement, or integrate unless you have strong IT and training support. While it excels in large-scale engineering projects, it can be excessive for smaller companies.
In my experience, integrating CATIA V5 with other systems has not always been straightforward.

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CATIA V5 helps me tackle complex design challenges that would be difficult to manage in simpler CAD tools. For example, when I need to work on detailed 3D surface modeling, large assemblies, or designs that require high precision, CATIA gives me the tools to do it efficiently. It also allows me to manage very complex product structures, which is especially important in industries like automotive and aerospace where designs involve thousands of components.

 ### 6. Powerful for Complex Assemblies, but Hard to Learn and Pricey

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** André G. | Hardware Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about CATIA?**

Handles extremely complex assemblies and surfaces and is stable even in very large projects. It can also be integrated in PLM software.

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

it is very complicated to start using it. It is kind of expensive.

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows for easy integration of PLM software and is able to handle our massive assemblies.

 ### 7. Master of CAD software

It is very easy to use and to understand the features of this tool. Learning how to use it is straightforward.

**What do you dislike about CATIA?**

So far, I haven't found anything to dislike. Up to this point, nothing has bothered me.

**What problems is CATIA solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes, we are unable to change the version, and when this happens, the trees do not get completed after the version has been downgraded.

 ### 10. Catia one of the best user friendly CAD software with high precision and accuracy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)
