Canva is a great tool for developing presentations and covers for reports and books. When I first came across it, it seemed like an obvious solution. One that would have been really useful say about 10 years ago when many people were setting up their online websites for ecommerce. My favorite part about Canva is that it has measured the banners for popular social media sites. So it simplifies the process in way that doesn’t require multiple checks and updates to make sure the banner you created on your design program will fit. The software’s processes simplify the creative process in so many ways by providing borders, frames, and shapes. Illustrations and images are often free and when you do pay, you can spend as little as a dollar for an image. Monthly fees range about $10, so it’s a very economical choice for those entrepreneurs who are looking to get there websites and social media platforms up quickly, and color palettes, fonts, and generic materials like letterhead for your business. It’s useful in corporate environments when groups are working to create internal sites or materials supporting prototypes. In many ways, I have fallen in love with the platform, and I try to use it with any project that I may be working on such as videos. I’ve noticed many Youtubers, use canva’s designs to overlay an image for the video, or the thumbnail image. . I like that the free option. The platform is very intuitive you can jump right in and start working on your project.

Although, Canva is a great creative tool, the issue I have encountered is an inability to do some advanced graphic design. I often use Canva and Picmonkey together in order to get a really good graphical representation for the project that I am working on. However, sometimes, when I am trying to achieve a look, and I know it will take time to do it Adobe Photoshop, I will switch over to Canva instead and follow up with Picmonkey. The text feature can be cumbersome at times when working with longer documents. For instance, I updated a resume in the platform and I was consistently making text blocks and making sure it fit within the document but I couldn’t easily go from one page to the next. Instead, I would duplicate the first page in order to maintain some of the styles. However, I love the look that I was able to achieve and appreciate the printing options.
