Botkeeper falls short when handling complex real‑world invoices common among our construction‑trade clients. It cannot reliably untangle mixed‑line invoices that combine material supply purchases and on‑site contract labor. Very often it will lump job‑site labor charges together with hardware supply expenses, forcing our staff to go in and fix each misclassified line item month after month. Its native audit trail filtering options are also pretty restricted. When we get ready for external CPA audits, I cannot create targeted filtered views to pull only the transactions I need to review. Since we don’t have IT resources to build custom workarounds, I’m forced to export huge full‑size datasets and manually sort through spreadsheets to pull the audit evidence we require. On top of that, there is no native integration connecting Botkeeper to our tax‑prep software. Once we finish cleaning up client ledgers, I have to manually export and import ledger data over to our tax system, adding tedious manual steps especially during our busy tax‑filing season. The initial rollout also had pain points.
