Bolt.new has made building quick prototypes much faster, letting us go from a rough idea to a working app or interface just by describing what we need through chat instead of building it manually from scratch. Being able to start from a Figma design has sped up turning finished mockups into functional prototypes without redoing the UI work in code. Integration with GitHub has made it easy to push prototype code into a repository for further development once an idea is validated, rather than the prototype being a throwaway experiment. The range of starting points, whether a website, app, or dashboard, has covered most of the quick prototyping needs that come up during early feature exploration. Generated code for more complex, business-logic-heavy features sometimes needs significant manual refactoring before it's production-ready, since the AI tends to produce simpler implementations than our actual requirements. Prompting effectively to get the exact structure or behavior needed still takes some trial and error, especially for more nuanced UI interactions. Pricing scales with usage, which becomes a consideration if prototyping frequently rather than occasionally.
