The BMC AMI DevX tool was employed in our team when performing maintenance and test operations associated with mainframe applications. I had the opportunity to use BMC AMI DevX primarily when analyzing the outcome of batch processing, program behavior after code changes, and when looking into failures in processing jobs prior to deploying any changes into production processes. In my opinion, the main benefit of using this software is that it allows for an easy debugging process rather than having to depend on green-screen tools only. What do you dislike about BMC AMI DevX? There is still a need for an in-depth understanding of the mainframe process, hence requiring time for newer team members to get used to navigating through the process seamlessly. What I observed is that problem-solving gets difficult in environments where multiple batches and applications have interconnected dependencies. Earlier, debugging and analysis processes had required switching between multiple tools of previous versions, while having to examine execution details manually. With BMC AMI DevX, most of the troubleshooting and testing process became consolidated in an efficient way. As a result, troubleshooting for job failures was simplified, testing operations were better visualized, and overall management of application maintenance processes became simpler.
