Describe the project or task Blue State Digital helped with:

Blue State Digital was a great affordable tool to run ads and send emails for Democratic organizations and candidates. Personally, I used it to send emails and host the sign up pages for those emails. We also used it to host the pages digital ads went to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Blue State Digital?

Blue State Digital was easy to use for the most part with relatively intuitive design. But the best part was the ability to easily customize emails, templates, and page wrappers. I never felt like there were training wheels preventing me from doing my job. That being said, it might have been more difficult to use for someone who did not know HTML or CSS but I thought that was the best part -- it was a platform designed for professionals. BSD was no frills -- it didn't have a drag and drop editor for people who didn't know HTML (which for some would be a downside). But that meant I didn't have to fight as much against their template code. They allowed for significant customization that was relatively easy to achieve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blue State Digital?

I disliked the way their sign up form maker worked -- it was clunky and you had to save each question individually. You also had to hard code in apostrophes. BSD also didn't have the most powerful reporting tools -- was a process to find deliverability by domain name. But now that it's gone I'd take these quirks back in a heartbeat. Recommendations to others considering Blue State Digital:

If it still existed I would recommend BSD in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it was sunset on June 30, 2021. It was a great product that will be missed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Blue State Digital solving and how is that benefiting you?

BSD provided a robust, affordable product to send emails and run ad pages from. I never used their advocacy tools, but I do know people enjoyed them. I had solid deliverability for my emails and a product that did what was intended. While it had quirks, it was easy to use and customize to my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
