I use it on-prem, so being able to use it in Azure provides commonality for me. It is managed so it takes that burden away from me. It performs well, can have read-replicas, so all is good. Priced reasonably and for those that only need what it offers, is a great way to save money over the alternatives like Managed SQL Server or Azure SQL, or even something like Oracle. While MySQL would be a similar option, I find I prefer PostgreSQL to MySQL for a number of reasons. **What do you dislike about Azure Database for PostgreSQL?** Working with clusters is not as seamless as AWS's Aurora/PostgreSQL. There is a Hyperscale (Citus) option but it is quite pricey. Something that auto-fails over to the read-replica that gets promoted to the writer would be nice. Microsoft obviously prefers their many SQL Server offerings and so invests more there, and while that is expected, it would be nice if more was done on PostgreSQL, but that would make it more competitive with the SQL Server options. **What problems is Azure Database for PostgreSQL solving and how is that benefiting you?** Providing SaaS for my application using the same components as on-prem. No need to port to another DB or learn the intricacies of another, I can just use the support my application already has. Application is a traditional RDBMS application with reasonably high transaction volumes. Customers increasingly want to have our software provided as Software as a Service and while we started on AWS, we have demand to offer it on Azure as well and the PostgreSQL support eases the migration. What we are after is a standard RDBMS and use Aurora/PostgreSQL in AWS which provides HA with scale out readers that can be promoted to writer on the event the writer fails. ### 4. I got to the part where I tried to upload my free SSL certificate to my website, and I couldn't get it figured out even with a really good tutorial online. **What problems is Azure Database for PostgreSQL solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm not really sure I solving any business problems with it. I mainly just use it for personal. I've got 2 websites on the Azure platform, And I ran out of free space Commerce or haven't been in there in I while but there is tons of Apps and software if your website builder to play with common in they give you a pretty generous amount of space, In a fully customizeable dashboard, which is fun. ### 5. But this it not a major issue as you can easily collect with other tools. It has a great community that supports and maintains its integrity. Azure Database for PostgreSQL is simply the deployment of PostgreSQL database on the Azure cloud. It's as simple as logging onto the Azure database portal and creating a new PostgreSQL database instance.
