What do you like best about AWS Transfer Family?

Primary and most important benefit of AWS Transfer Family is that it doenst need any infrastructure. Its works like a plug and play device.

Considering our 48+ AWS acounts fleet and hunderds of Onprem servers from legacy applications, AWS TF plays a very crucial role in data sharing between Onprem and Cloud services we have.

Its inbuilt integration to secrets manager, IAM and Lambda plays avery crucial role in maintaining security on top of its intended functionality.

What do you dislike about AWS Transfer Family?

There are no downsides we come across sofar in terms of technicality and I'm very honest about it.

What problems is AWS Transfer Family solving and how is that benefiting you?

We previously relied heavily on Snowball devices for many of our customers, and the entire process often took days or even months to complete. Since most of our workloads proved to be beneficial when data transfer happens daily, this became inefficient over time. With AWS Transfer Family, we were able to migrate all the data in a single onboarding effort and then establish a consistent, ongoing transfer schedule that completely removes our dependency on Snowballs going forward.

AWS Transfer Family also helps us maintain alignment between on‑prem and cloud environments—files, configurations, and data structures remain intact, which is one of our core priorities. Managing this across 200+ AWS accounts (out of more than 480 in total) is no small task, but AWS Transfer Family has proven to be incredibly beneficial and scalable for our needs.
