We previously used AWS IoT Things Graph to model relationships between IoT devices and AWS services. Since the service has been discontinued, we now handle orchestration with AWS IoT Core, AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, and Lambda.
Things Graph offered an intuitive, visual way to design interactions across devices, cloud services, and business workflows. Its graphical workflow builder helped reduce the amount of custom orchestration logic we had to write and made it easier to move quickly through proof-of-concept development. The ecosystem remained relatively niche, and visual workflows became difficult to maintain for very complex industrial systems. Following its discontinuation, migration to newer AWS orchestration services became necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
