What do you like best about AWS DataSync?

What I like most about AWS DataSync is how it simplifies large-scale data transfers between on-premises storage, AWS storage services, and other cloud environments. It automates data movement, validates data integrity, optimizes network utilization, and supports incremental synchronization, which makes both migrations and ongoing data replication much easier to manage.

It also removes the need to build and maintain custom scripts, while still delivering strong transfer performance and offering detailed monitoring throughout the process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS DataSync?

The initial setup involves deploying a DataSync agent for on-premises environments, and you need to ensure network connectivity is configured correctly. If you’re only doing very small or one-time transfers, simpler tools like the AWS CLI may be sufficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is AWS DataSync solving and how is that benefiting you?

AWS DataSync addresses the challenge of transferring large datasets securely and efficiently.

For example, during a cloud migration project, we used AWS DataSync to move several terabytes of application files from an on-premises NAS to Amazon S3. The service automatically validated the transferred data, synchronized only the files that changed after the initial migration, and significantly reduced overall migration time compared with manual copy processes.
