What I like most about AWS CloudTrail is how it provides end-to-end visibility into what’s happening across AWS environments. It captures API calls, user actions, resource changes, and overall account activity, which makes it extremely useful for auditing, security investigations, compliance reporting, and day-to-day operational troubleshooting.

The detailed audit trail is a standout. For example, during production investigations, CloudTrail helps us quickly pinpoint configuration changes that may have contributed to an issue. Rather than manually checking multiple services, we can see exactly who made the change, what was modified, and when it happened.

In large AWS environments, CloudTrail can generate a significant volume of logs, and that can drive up storage and analysis costs over time. During investigations, it may also be hard to quickly pinpoint specific events unless CloudTrail is integrated with log analytics and monitoring tools. As the amount of CloudTrail data grows, analyzing it effectively often becomes difficult without additional tooling such as Athena, OpenSearch, or SIEM platforms.
