What I like most about AWS App Mesh is that it delivers consistent networking, traffic management, observability, and security for microservices without requiring changes to application code. It lets teams manage service-to-service communication centrally, while still supporting capabilities such as traffic shifting, retries, circuit breaking, and mutual TLS (mTLS).
I also appreciate its integration with Envoy Proxy, which makes it straightforward to apply advanced networking features to containerized applications running on AWS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
App Mesh has a steeper learning curve than traditional application networking. It takes time to get comfortable with service mesh concepts and the details of Envoy configuration, including virtual services, virtual routers, and traffic policies. In my experience, it also tends to be more beneficial for larger microservices architectures than for smaller applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
