"All-in-One Grant Management with Smart AI Scoring and Automated Workflows"
4/5
What do you like best about AwardScience?

The biggest win is that everything finally lives in one place. You build the application form with a proper no-code builder (conditional logic actually works), set up multi-stage workflows by dragging boxes, and the system moves applications forward automatically. No more “who has the latest spreadsheet?” conversations.

The AI scoring is surprisingly useful for scientific grants. It reads the full submission, proposes scores against your rubric, and gives written reasoning. Judges still make the final call, but they start from something intelligent instead of a blank page. For peer-reviewed type programs this is a real time-saver. Document extraction is also solid — upload a PDF proposal or CV and it pulls key fields. Semantic duplicate detection caught a few near-identical applications that keyword search would have missed.

Communications are clean. Automated emails (and SMS/WhatsApp on the higher plans) for status updates, judge reminders, and deadlines remove a huge chunk of admin. Role-based access and the audit log are proper — every score change, comment, and decision is timestamped. In a regulated environment that matters.

Setup was faster than expected. We had a pilot program live in under two weeks without needing IT for the basic configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AwardScience?

It’s not cheap once you scale. Essentials at $149/month is fine for smaller programs, but the moment you need serious AI volume, SMS, stronger security features, or higher application limits you jump to Pro ($499/month) or Enterprise. Credits for AI features can get consumed quickly if you’re running heavy scientific reviews.

A few of the more advanced features (full SSO, private label, unlimited everything) are locked behind Enterprise, which means sales conversations and custom pricing. For a pure academic or very lightweight internal award, it can feel like overkill compared with simpler tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
