It helps us streamline our contractor pre-qualification process and provides solid configurability to match our company’s internal contractor compliance standards and requirements. The manual audit of contractor and supplier compliance carried out by Avetta gives us confidence that our on-site suppliers are compliant. As a result, we get time back and our site-based facility managers and contractor sponsors can spend more time out in the field—supporting work to a high standard and addressing any safety or production challenges that may arise where the hands-on work is happening. And finally, the client success managers are extremely supportive and responsive for our regional teams whilst deploying the system and ongoing management and use of our dashboards. We’ve experienced some friction and pain points from a client perspective as we’ve introduced Avetta as our global standard for contractor management. In particular, we’ve seen significant supplier pushback around registering in Avetta, mainly due to membership fees, the administrative burden on suppliers, reports of poor or very slow customer support from Avetta for suppliers, and resulting vendor relationship issues. From the perspective of our internal contractor management teams, requiring our contractors and suppliers to be registered in Avetta in order to work on our sites can feel like it’s effectively pushing out small to medium-sized contractor companies. The concern is that it ends up favoring larger companies that can more easily absorb the subscription costs and navigate the more cumbersome pre-qualification requirements. Before partnering with Avetta, our different divisions and facilities managed contractors—and contractor safety—in very different ways around the world. Our corporate teams didn’t have a clear, consistent way to view contractor and supplier compliance, particularly because we operate across many geographies and political environments. As a result, it was difficult to ensure that, as an enterprise, we could honestly say that no matter where we operate, our contractors and suppliers are working to the same high internal standards our teams are expected to meet. Avetta supports our enterprise strategy to streamline and standardize how we manage contractors across our global footprint, while helping us meet our due diligence and duty of care requirements for everyone who performs work on our company sites. Through our partnership with Avetta, we can better ensure our suppliers work to a high standard, are qualified to perform the work they do, and align with our internal EHS expectations. While deploying Avetta across our regions has been a significant effort for our corporate regional EHS team and our facilities, we’re now starting to see the benefits. Our facility teams are spending less time at the front end of projects on administrative tasks—making sure required documentation is available, current, and compliant with regulatory standards in the jurisdiction where the work is being done—so they can spend more time focused on managing the project itself.
