## Authorize.net Reviews
  ### 1. Easy Payments, Smooth Bank Setup, and Fast Performance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Idaliz O. | Director of Marketing and Communications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Authorize.net?**

Processing payments is easy, and connecting it to our bank account was straightforward. We haven’t had any issues when issuing refunds or handling things like that. The price is also very good for what we’re getting in ROI, and the performance feels fast and responsive. We haven’t used the AI feature yet, but we’re looking forward to seeing how the support for it works.

**What do you dislike about Authorize.net?**

We don’t have any negative aspects to mention, but we would like the system to let us connect our own codes so everything matches what we have in our back office accounts and CRM. It’s a bit hard to explain, but having our internal codes align across those systems would make things much easier.

**What problems is Authorize.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I really like the integration with our CRM system and how easy it makes taking payments. It’s a relief not having to process payments across different sites, since everything can be handled through Authorize in a safe way and then goes directly into our bank account.

  ### 2. Secure Payments with Intuitive Interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mickey v. | Financial Controller, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Authorize.net?**

I like that Authorize.net has a clear and easy-to-use interface. Everything I need is accessible in a clear way, so I don't have to spend much time figuring out how things work. It's very intuitive to use. Additionally, our team enjoys using their setup because the documentation is clear and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Authorize.net?**

Pricing could naturally always be better. An added feature would be a simulation tool which allows me to see the impact of any changes I would make to the platform.

**What problems is Authorize.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Authorize.net allows us to screen for risky transactions for fraud prevention and accept payments seamlessly on our website, making it an effective payment gateway.

  ### 3. Reliable Payment Gateway That’s Served Us Well for Years

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blair B. | Internet Technology Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Authorize.net?**

It has been a reliable payment gateway and has served us well for a number of years

**What do you dislike about Authorize.net?**

The mobile app - specifically the iOS version - for accepting card swipes with a physical credit card does not function properly and I had to abandon using it in favor of an Android solution.

**What problems is Authorize.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As stated in the previous response the iOS version of the Authorize.net 2.0 mobile app does not work for accepting card swipes with the Bluetooth card reader.

  ### 4. Competitive Rates, But Clunky UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leah B. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Authorize.net?**

I really like that Authorize.net offers very competitive rates. It's a big factor for me, especially since I switched over from Square because of these rates.

**What do you dislike about Authorize.net?**

I find the UI a little clunky compared to things like PayPal and Square. Also, the initial setup was a bit more cumbersome than with PayPal.

**What problems is Authorize.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Authorize.net for point of sale transactions, invoicing, and it directly integrates with my CRM and booking, which simplifies my business billing.

  ### 5. Bad for Subscription Managment

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brazzell M. | Presidewnt, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Authorize.net?**

With Authorize.net, you can switch credit card processors without losing your saved credit cards or automatic billing subscriptions. This can empower you to negotiate the best deal with credit card merchants and switch as needed.

**What do you dislike about Authorize.net?**

Increasingly under-featured for managing subscriptions. If you are not using it for API, you might as well just use the free online credit card processing from most credit card merchants. There's not much point to Authorize.net after Visa changed the UI. When I say "subscriptions," I am referring to automatic recurring charges such as a monthly subscription.

For instance, when you create a subscription, Authorize.net automatically creates a duplicate account for the customer. Imagine a customer with subscriptions for hosting, domain, and monthly advertising. That's three or four client profiles created for one client, because of this system. Each time you need to edit a subscription, there's little to no capacity for that. You often need to delete an existing subscription and start a new one. Now think of all the duplicate client profiles that get created every time you manage a subscription.

If go to manage a subscription, you have to get the customer to submit their credit card again. In the new UI, there's no way to use the existing credit card or a credit card on file to create a new subscription, and you have to create new subscriptions to manage or change an existing one in many instances.

Authorize.net sells this service that automatically updates the expiration date on credit cards. It's disastrous. It repeatedly deletes saved credit cards. It also suspends and deletes subscriptions, without warning and without notice. So if you are relying on Authorize.net to manage and keep track of subscriptions, it will just throw them out and you lose money not even knowing.

In Visa's new user interface for Authorize.net, you can't pull up a client and see the subscription charges. The customer profile only shows manual charges. You have to be clever and create your own customer ID system. If you create your own customer ID system and manually use it thoroughly, you can filter all your charges company-wide by this customer ID. You cannot filter by the customer profile ID provided by Authorize.net, because Authorize.net creates extra accounts every time you create as subscription, so every subscription has a new customer profile id.

I could go one. The shortcomings are many and growing. As they develop this new user interface for Authorize.net, Visa creates more and more bugs and removes vital features.

**What problems is Authorize.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Authorize.net tokenizes credit cards which helps businesses maintain PCI compliance. Of course, your credit card merchant, these days, likely does this for free online as well.
For card-not-present transactions, Authorize.net lets you charge credit cards through a website portal, without need for equipment. But again, credit card merchants have that for free now.
Formerly, Authorize.net allowed some basic subscription management. The new user interface that Visa added, makes it next to useless as a subscription management tool.

**Official Response from Lincoln Gifford:**

> Hello Brazzell M.

We are always looking for ways to improve, so we really appreciate you taking the time to submit this feedback. One thing to note is that the new interface is actively being developed and we are consistently releasing enhancements. We have submitted this feedback to our development team and welcome any further feedback. Please also submit this feedback in the new interface by clicking on the "Feedback" button. We also wanted to address your concerns.

Merchants can edit subscriptions without needing to cancel and re-create a new one. All fields (including the card number) can be edited in both the new and old interfaces except for the following (based on subscription status):

Active
 - Payment Method (for example, Credit Card OR eCheck)
 - Subscription Interval
 - Start Date
 - Trial Period (If the trial period has completed)
Suspended
 - Payment Method (for example, Credit Card OR eCheck)
 - Subscription Interval
 - Trial Period (If the trial period has completed)

In the old interface, you can see the transactions that are tied to the subscription by clicking on the subscription ID and then clicking on "Completed Payments." We realize that this feature currently isn't in the new interface and have submitted this feedback to our developers. In the meantime, you can always switch back to the old interface by clicking on the toggle at the top that says "Try the new Authorize.net" and turning that off.

We would also like to provide additional information about the Account Updater (AU) service that updates cards. The AU relies on the responses that it receives from the card issuing bank. There are 4 different responses:

 - New Account Number (NAN)
 - New Expiration Date (NED)
 - Account Closed (ACL)
 - Contact Card Holder (CCH)

If the card issuing bank returns the ACL response, the AU will delete the payment profile and suspend the subscription. Sometimes card issuing banks may not return the correct response to the AU, if that is the case merchants can exclude payment profiles from the AU updates. This behavior and the process to exclude payment profiles can be found in our support center.
