## About Arbor Sightline
NETSCOUT Arbor Sightline is a high-performance network visibility and DDoS detection platform engineered for the demands of large-scale service provider environments. It provides deep, real-time insight into IP traffic by ingesting and analyzing flow data such as NetFlow, sFlow, and IPFIX. For cybersecurity teams, this means having a continuous, comprehensive view of network behavior that enables rapid detection of anomalies, volumetric attacks, and stealthy threats that could otherwise evade traditional perimeter defenses. Designed with scalability and precision in mind, Arbor Sightline empowers practitioners to identify and respond to DDoS attacks with speed and accuracy. It correlates live traffic telemetry with global threat intelligence, allowing teams to pinpoint malicious activity and understand its context within the broader threat landscape. This intelligence-driven approach supports proactive defense strategies, enabling mitigation before service degradation or customer impact occurs. Arbor Sightline also integrates seamlessly with Arbor Threat Mitigation System (TMS) and other mitigation tools, automating response workflows and reducing the operational burden on security teams. Its centralized analytics and customizable dashboards streamline incident investigation and network forensics, helping practitioners reduce mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to respond (MTTR). For service providers managing complex, distributed infrastructures, Arbor Sightline is not just a visibility tool—it’s a critical component of a resilient, adaptive security architecture.

## Arbor Sightline Reviews
  ### 1. Sightline goes beyond detecting DDoS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darren G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Arbor Sightline?**

I think the best feature in Sightline is the multiple ways we can detect DDoS attacks, using host based or network based signatures. Both of which we use to detect attacks toward our customers, as well as our own infrastructure. The system is easy to deploy in a virtual environment, requiring no additional hardware costs. Sightline is also easily integrated into our customer portal via the available API, which continues to improve with each release. My team is constantly logged into the system, and we see it used daily. The ATAC team is ready to assist with troubleshooting questions, or just general help on how to deal with certain attacks. This gives us confidence in the system, knowing Arbor is there to help.

**What do you dislike about Arbor Sightline?**

My only issue with Sightline is the approach to the various licenses and features. When running locally on our own hardware, certain items, which as flows per second, shouldn't need an additional license.

**What problems is Arbor Sightline solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sightline has allowed us to quickly identify attacks in our network. It is flexible to fit the needs of most of our customers. When combined with the TMS, it becomes our go-to tool for DDoS defense across our network.

**What do you like best about Arbor Sightline?**

Arbor Sightline offers deep-flow visibility using NetFlow/IPFIX analytics combined with global threat intelligence to detect DDoS and network anomalies in real time for large-scale environments.

**What do you dislike about Arbor Sightline?**

The platform requires significant infrastructure and expert staff to deploy, tune, and operate at scale. It can be complex to manage and may incur high operational costs in multi-vendor networks.

**What problems is Arbor Sightline solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalable Network Visibility & Analytics – Monitors NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX across distributed infrastructure for deep insight at scale.

Advanced DDoS Detection & Mitigation – Leverages NETSCOUT’s ATLAS Intelligence Feed (AIF) and ML-driven analytics for real-time threat detection.

Traffic Engineering & Cost Optimization – Helps reduce transit costs, optimize peering relationships, and plan capacity.

Forensics & Investigative Capability – Dashboards, customizable analytics, historical flow storage (with Insight add-on) support incident response and forensic analysis.

Cooperative Attack Defense – Features like Sightline Signaling enable coordinated DDoS defense across administrative or provider boundaries.

  ### 3. Essential for DDoS Mitigation with Crucial API Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caio V.

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Arbor Sightline?**

I find the satellite service indispensable for its extensive visibility over the attack landscape, aiding in carrier support and ISP operations. The automation features, especially through the API, have been paramount in enhancing our response efficiency and mitigating labor-intensive tasks with TMS. I also have high regard for the tool's ability to handle elaborate and sophisticated attacks with intelligence, ensuring a clean pipe. Its overall utility is impressive, and I trust it enough to continue my subscription without hesitation.

**What do you dislike about Arbor Sightline?**

I find it quite challenging to stop and mitigate DDoS attacks using Arbor Sightline because it can be very manual and labor-intensive without the right tools. This process can be exhausting and difficult. Additionally, I would appreciate more detailed documentation and expanded options in the API to improve integrations.

**What problems is Arbor Sightline solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the product to automate and ease DDoS attack mitigation, providing crucial visibility and intelligent responses.

  ### 4. Arbor Edge Defense: Proactive Protection at the Network Edge

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Arbor Sightline?**

The biggest item is, many of the automitigations that have saved myself and other egineers calls in the middle of the night. Between DDoS attacks and our DNS servers being the target of weeks long abuse from a misconfigured Data Center product, it has served us well.

**What do you dislike about Arbor Sightline?**

That there is a lot there and I can't help but feel that I'm not fully utilizing all of the features. But that is something that happens with any tool you have to learn about from scratch.

**What problems is Arbor Sightline solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a service provider, many of our customers and infrastructure are on public Internet and are under constant attacks. Before the installation of Arbor, we had more than a few calls where engineers had to hop on and manually block traffic with ACLs on firewalls.

  ### 7. The absolute gold standard for

I love how easy it is to detect and act against DDoS attacks, and the support team is probably the greatest support of any vendor I have used in 25+ years!

**What do you dislike about Arbor Sightline?**

The downside is probably that it’s intimidating for my Operations team.

**What problems is Arbor Sightline solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Signtline helps us keep our customers online, and our voice core working. With remote village services, it is easy for a DDoS attack to compromise many customer facing services, making their experience extremely poor.
