"Clean, Intuitive, and Seamlessly Integrated: OS X El Capitan at Its Best"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Apple OS X El Capitan?

I used OS X El Capitan in the past on an older Mac for day-to-day development and general productivity. At the time, it felt stable, responsive, and straightforward to work with. Features like the Finder interface, Mission Control, Spotlight search, and Split View made it easier to manage files and switch between multiple applications without losing focus. I also appreciated how smoothly it integrated with other Apple services and devices. Given the hardware available then, El Capitan provided a reliable environment for browsing, using development tools, handling office work, and taking care of everyday tasks. What do you dislike about Apple OS X El Capitan?

The biggest limitation today is that this operating system is no longer suitable for modern production use. Many current applications, browsers, development tools, and security updates are no longer supported. As software requirements evolved, I eventually had to move to newer versions of macOS to stay compatible with modern development tools and services. When I used El Capitan, it was stable and reliable, but its age now makes compatibility and security the main drawbacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
