I really appreciate how the fill API is straightforward; I can just send JSON keyed by field alias and get a finished PDF back. The auto field detection does most of the mapping work for me, and the ability to register templates with my own aliases means I don't have to rewrite my data layer when adding new forms. I also like that fill and e-signature capabilities are integrated into one tool, which makes the process seamless without needing to combine two services. The initial setup was really easy, which was a great start for using Anvil. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Anvil fill endpoints fail silently. If I write to an alias the template doesn't have, I still get a PDF back with no error, so I have to read the values back to confirm everything landed. A warning or an error for unmatched aliases would save a lot of debugging. Also, auto field detection disagreed with one of my PDFs, specifically a Cali DL142, so that form didn't join. More reliable detection on dense government forms would help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
