What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?

Aurora abstracts the connections of the database instances relationships, with a sophisticated link point mechanism, achieving more speed when processing intermediate data, which is extremely positive for large volumes of data that need to be processed quickly. Aurora is a powerful tool when replicating data, since it manages everything in its platform with read-only queries. Aurora performs excellently in data storage, as it allows you to process a lot of queries in a fast and secure way, it also performs in the area of index creation, in fact, the storage is always changing automatically according to the data you enter into the platform. Aurora is a very secure cloud service, in fact your data infrastructure is always protected, as they have third parties periodically verifying the security of their system. What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?

It is a very complex service to understand in principle the steps to create instances and work with clusters are heavy and complicated, the interface is not easy to understand when you start using the program. Basically aurora does not have a defined cost, everything will depend on the amount of relational data to be processed, this is confusing since the amount of data to be handled periodically is not always known. What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?

We always implement Amazon services in our company, so we started using Amazon Aurora to handle a lot of data and as a method of organization the tool really combines speed with fluidity and allows you to automate many parameters that initially can be complex to understand, we have been migrating data from Amazon RDS to the Aurora PostgreSQL interface with very satisfactory results in the analysis process. One of the biggest problems we’ve been able to solve is achieving near-zero downtime for our applications. With features like automated failover, multi-AZ deployments, and continuous backups, we can ensure our services remain online and resilient even during maintenance or unexpected failures.

We also benefit significantly from multi-region replication, which allows us to improve performance for global users while maintaining data consistency and disaster recovery readiness. What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?

Aurora provides us with much better performance speed than a normal traditional database. It also provides continuous automated backups in s3 without halting the live functionality of the application in the real world.

As Aurora is a managed service it becomes very easy to deploy within a few minutes.

Aurora also provides seamless integration with many AWS services for AI/ML like bedrock and Amazon SageMaker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?

One of the main issues we run into in Aurora is that you need to keep your database in constant auto-scaling but temporary storage is local to a computing instance and depends on its class. So if your ALTER statement requires lots of temporary space to rebuild table/index, it may fail because of insufficient local storage.

One of the other disadvantages is that we can't use the SUPER mysql command, as that is blocked. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our old traditional database scales poorly against high volumes of data and heavy loads of transactions.

So, amazon auora help us in solving these two problem by providing low latency read replica and autoscaling to handle our heavy traffic based on the scenario.
