I like the fact that it is a very diverse simulation environment, with lots of different software integrated. The ability to couple different solvers to run multiphysics simulations are valuable to us. I have mostly used SimLab for fluid-structure interactions, coupled thermal solutions and smoothed particle hydrodynamics, as well as some preprocessing meshing, and it has served me and my colleagues well so far. It is a software under continuous development, and new features are added upon each release, which is good to know.

The user interface is also neat and easy to use, and the support from Altair is great if you need additional help. The geometry preparation is also very helpful and quite extensive. Lots of stuff can be done directly within SimLab instead of going to a dedicated CAD software.

I have only used parts of its potential, but I see everything else it can do within electromagnetism, fluid, thermal and structural analysis. When we need to do more complex coupled simulations it is our go to software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As with all software there are some drawbacks. The example database could be bigger and more updated, particularly for the coupled analyses, and the documentation could be easier to navigate. There have also been instances where the software has freezed, but that is not often, and could be a hardware issue on my end as well. For some reason it is not possible to undo and redo actions within SimLab, which I don't understand why. It is quite annoying. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
