Learning to use this software is challenging. Adobe provides only video tutorials, which are poorly produced and ineffective for non-auditory learners. The narrators have distracting accents, and the content lacks clarity. The software itself is not user-friendly—basic tasks like deleting individual elements (e.g., a back arrow on a card slide) are unnecessarily difficult and often result in deleting the entire slide content. I have not found a way to remove just one element.

Additionally, the software does not allow you to embed videos from YouTube. Attempting to insert a video via copy and paste does not work either. These limitations significantly reduce its functionality. I do not recommend this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The learning curve was big for me when I first started using Captivate, so I utilized several LinkedIn Learning courses to learn the basics of Captivate. I liked how easy it was to learn how to get started and how powerful it can be once you really get to know it. It has allowed me to create a diverse, engaging set of eLearning for our partners and customers. Sometimes the order in which you would like like to do things is not intuitive. There are some things after you work with it for awhile, you feel it should be able to do, but it can't in a direct manor, you need to find a "hack" to do it. The Mac version is a bit glitchy.
