"Streamlined Invoicing with Room for Tax Enhancement"

What do you like best about aACE?

What resonates most for our small accounting firm is how aACE merges time‑tracking, client profiles and invoicing all under one platform, especially helpful since we don’t have an in‑house IT team. During our high‑pressure quarterly tax filing window for our local retail‑business clients, our staff logged billable hours for tax‑return preparation work directly to each client project, and could generate invoices right from those logged hours. We no longer hopped between multiple separate apps just to match billable time to customer bills. I’m also a big fan of its customizable client fields and inline document attachments. We attach scanned receipts, signed engagement agreements, and client‑provided tax worksheets directly on each client’s profile. When reviewing open accounts receivable balances, our accountants can pull supporting documentation instantly, instead of digging through messy shared cloud‑storage folders. Its simple role‑based permissions are another win: we lock junior‑level staff so they can view records but cannot edit core billing figures, cutting down the risk of costly accidental changes. What do you dislike about aACE?

Where aACE falls flat is US‑tax‑specific functionality and bulk‑file performance, which creates real headaches during our crunch quarterly filing deadlines. Working with that same group of retail clients, trying to bulk‑upload batches of their scanned expense receipts would repeatedly time out, forcing us to upload every single file individually, wasting valuable hours. There is no built‑in reporting template formatted for US quarterly tax submissions. Since we have no on‑site IT resources, we cannot adjust backend report layouts, so we export raw datasets and manually rework everything in spreadsheets. The initial rollout also took far more manual work than I anticipated. I built custom fields and user permission groups completely from scratch ahead of tax season, there were zero pre‑configured workflows for US small‑business accounting. Importing our old legacy billing records took multiple late‑night sessions, plus I needed to run extra one‑on‑one training for newer team members. This setup work ate into time I should have reserved for actual client tax‑return preparation. We also lack native connections to our other tools, meaning all file transfers have to be done manually.
