“Human Resources Perspective on Paylocity”
What do you like best?

As a Human Resources employee, I found that Paylocity has simplified my role through multiple different modules. I find that the search tool through HR & Payroll is easy to use when I need to quickly lookup an employee's profile/salary/and direct reports. A feature that I also enjoy is the customization of forms for example in Performance Management. It enabled our organization to edit the forms that adapted to the paper forms that we previously used. The best feature within Performance Management is the filter and the dashboard. I find it very helpful when an employee needs a status update and I am able to quickly find them through the filter feature and see which status it is in and who touched the review last. The Recruiting & Onboarding module is the most actively used in our HR team and has tremendously increased the amount of RECs we receive and have hired more employees through Paylocity. It keeps the recruiters organized and structured throughout the recruiter's lifecycle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Some of the issues that occur in Paylocity are connectivity issues. The site will freeze up and abruptly have errors when clicking onto a new page. That can be frustrating at times, not only for the HR team but for all employees. The notification system is the biggest pain point within the organization. I will receive emails from employees who complain about the notifications that seem to be broad about what is being asked of them. The notification system in Performance Management does not notify the employee or the reviewer of the next steps, such as when the review has been completed or signed. A feature that I would like to see happen within Performance Management is to allow for multiple reviewers on the review instead of one. Our organization has a couple of departments that require two or more reviewers and it's difficult to manage to reassign the review to each reviewer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The biggest problem that was solved with Paylocity is through Payroll. Our Accounting & Finance team were previously using Quickbooks. Paylocity allowed these teams to effectively and efficiently send out payroll on time and track reports with ease. Paylocity allows for employees to manually set up their direct deposit, W4, and all other tax-related information at any time. Payroll can then go in and approve the changes and reach out to the employees if there were any issues. Before Paylocity, Payroll would have to send out the paystubs via email, and sometimes those got lost in the email black hole, now employees can view their paystubs at any time, or anywhere and download them when needed. What do you like best?

Whenever my employees go out for a business tour, I have no worries about the expense management and thanks to FreshBooks that has eradicated the need of paper work. Now I have all the receipts in well-organized form. “Paychex Flex Lives Up to the Name”
What do you like best?

I love the convenience of managing my paycheck with Paychex Flex. It's as easy as logging into the app/website and downloading paystubs, seeing upcoming pay, managing my contributions to my 401K, opting out of the 401K, etc. I had doubts going in when our company was introduced to it but it has been on my favorite apps because it's really great for managing that information. I also like that the app is secure. I constantly am forced to log back in like about every 2 weeks. It's a small inconvenience that I'll gladly take over having my information hacked or stolen. It has also allows for Face ID on the iPhone but will still make you log in manually ever so often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that I have to constantly manually log in. If I'm being honest, this is something of a reach. Manually logging in really isn't that big of a deal because it's a security measure. However, I would recommend they adjust it to maybe once a month instead of every several weeks. If you don't remember your password and the app is forcing a manual log in, you'll have to do a password reset. The thing is they require a complex password with a capital letter, lower case, number, etc. If you're not prone to remembering log in information, it would be best to write it down somewhere otherwise you'll be doing a password reset at least once a month and that can be so annoying. Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure that if you're seriously considering Paychex Flex that you take a serious consideration of all that Paychex has to offer. Be sure to have your employees sit through trainings and you yourself as management should sit through all trainings. It does take some time to get onboarded with Paychex so be patient. It is well worth it. My employer was notorious for starting with a service and then quitting it and going to another company. She has stayed consistent with Paychex since we implemented it pre-COVID-19 and looks like Paychex Flex is here to stay! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am solving payroll issues and am able to anticipate pay, delayed pay or even see if there will be a discrepancy on my paycheck (including being underpaid). I also able to access paystubs for tax purposes. The app gives me a centralized location for all things regarding my income and helps me to better manage future purchases and fund allocations. “BigTime is the Way to Go”
What do you like best?

I love how user friendly this program is. We recently switched from WorkBook and I don't ever want to look back because of how difficult it was. BigTime is well organized, I LOVE that I can save things or undo things in a simple click.

I'm still new to using it, but I must say one of my favorite things is probably the connection between BigTime and Quickbooks. I work a lot with Quickbooks, and the fact that things are linked and I can simply click "sync" and information transfers between the two means less duplicate entry work for me, and much less margin for error. I don't mind doing the work in any way, but this has already been incredibly helpful already in alleviating more time for the rest of my tasks.

Also, the fact that they have a live chat for customer service is amazing. And when they're not live, they'll answer you via email very quickly. That is so essential to me because sometimes I can't wait a week for an answer like I have with other programs in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

So far I haven't found much I have disliked about the software. I will say that I wish we could customize some of the categories. It will take some time but "Activity" from our previous software means something completely different than "Activity" in BigTime. The biggest problem I think that has been solved for my workday is probably the amount of time I save on being able to sync things between BigTime and Quickbooks. I feel like I used to waste so much time because I was having to manually enter in data to Quickbooks AND to our old program. I love the chat feature that allows you to quickly submit a request to your account team. Any time I have an issue or have a question, I can quickly message my team and they get back to me ASAP. The message feature is much more convenient than having to locate the contact number. “Great Product! Best Customer Service!”
What do you like best?

- Stampli's invoice approval process has made our AP team's lives a million times easier! We used to spend so much time tracking down invoices, naming and coding them, manually emailing each one out for approval, tracking the invoices until we get an approval back, then manually saving and merging each approval to its matching invoice, before we were ever even able to begin keying the invoices into our system. Stampli has reformed this process completely! We now just forward our invoices to Stampli, then our AP team goes in, codes each invoice (which Stampli does half of this for us), selects the approvers it needs to go to, then sends. Once the invoice has been approved by all approvers, it shows up in our Approved Invoices tab, where we can easily authorize it for payment and then export it out to our financial system.

- Stampli’s duplicate invoice detection has also cut out a ton of extra work we were doing, as previously, we would often receive duplicate invoices, go through the entire approval process, then try to key the invoices into our financial system and find out that they have already been keyed or paid… Stampli now tells us right when we are coding the invoices whether they are a duplicate or not.

- We love that we are able to see all communications between everyone who has touched the invoice, all in one central location with Stampli’s Communications Hub. This makes it much easier to know where an invoice is at in the process, without having a million separate emails going around.

- Our GM’s like that they now have easier access to viewing their store’s invoices, rather than having to keep requesting copies from us.

- Our DM’s also like that they are easily able to run a Pending Approval search to see which of their GM’s still have invoices open, that way they can keep them on track. This is a big plus for our AP team as well, as this has significantly cut the time and effort we have had to put into getting approvals back in a timely manner.

- Stampli’s customer support has been top notch overall. Our customer rep, Eric Juco, has truly been a godsend. He is prompt and quick to reply. He answers every question we ask, and we have asked many, in detail and provides examples. After going through demos with 3 other companies that had decent products, but shotty customer service, Stampli has definitely been a breath of fresh air. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

While most of our feedback regarding this product is positive, there are a few negatives to consider:

- Only AP Personnel are able to use the Comment feature to make comments on invoices. The only way Approvers are able to comment on an invoice is for them to click Approve, Reject, Request a Field Update or to use the Ask a Question feature, then type the comment in the field below. This is really not optimal, as most of the time, the approver does not want to do any of those things, they just want to add a comment.

- When invoice copies are downloaded in bulk from Stampli, which we have been doing each week, only the invoices will download, not any of the communications or approvals attached to each invoice.

- We wish we were able to give our department head’s (approvers) permissions to edit GL coding, without giving all approvers these permissions. Currently, there is only the option to either give everyone GL coding permissions or to only give AP Personnel GL coding permissions.

- I have heard numerous comments throughout our company about wanting the invoice view to be a bit bigger, although most agree that the magnifying tools do make up for this.

- Only PDF files can be forwarded to Stampli. All other files types must be converted to PDF before being sent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I've been using Quickbooks for my content marketing business for the past 3 years. It's intuitive, easy to understand, and helps me stay on top of my business income, expenses, and estimated taxes. I really appreciate the fact that it estimates my quarterly tax payments. Saves me a lot of time every quarter. It's very simple to categorize my expenses. And I love the invoicing feature. What do you dislike?

A couple downsides: the estimated tax payments tend to skew too big every quarter. I appreciate the fact that they are not too small, but I wish they were more accurate. Also wish that the software could give me an estimation for state taxes — I have to do this manually myself. Undoubtedly, ADP is a powerful and valuable tool for all employees at a company. Why ADP is essential software for all enterprises? The answer is plain to see because you start to use it on the first day at your company. The most important features are:

- the simple registration process when you accepted the job offer

- W4, W2 - all tax forms are available online

- "Clock-in" and "Clock-out" buttons for all employees who are working remotely (the feature for your supervisor)

- the information about your benefits in one place

What do you dislike?

Indeed, ADP is the best tool in the HR area. However, the Mobile Application is with fewer features than the desktop software. I would like to have in Mobile Application (IOS and Android) the same features. The most important point in the Mobile App is information about your paycheck (taxes, benefits, retirement, other and take home). If ADP developed their App, it will be amazing for all clients. “Mostly exceptional product”
What do you like best?

It is a web based product so i can access it anywhere with a smart phone. The mobile app is extremely useful for our employees. It's functionality is very logical and easy to teach to new users. Cognos reporting is also incredibly helpful. We have so many year end reports for different purposes that we cannot use the "one size fits all" approach for the delivered reports. What do you dislike?

Since the Ultimate-Kronos merger, I have seen a decline in the responsiveness of the Customer Success Team. I opened a ticket nearly two weeks ago that has not yet been updated by the UKG Team. That is disappointing since support used to be one of UltiMate's strongest tools. in addition, submitting support cases is becoming more difficult. The categories and options presented when completing a support case are not as varied as in the past, making it difficult in some cases to "correctly" submit a case for assistance. Employee File Management - storing, managing and tracking employee files and other documentation. We are slowly handling less paper and becoming more digitized and flexible in our ability to manage documents. We started our business using Mitchell but came to realize that sales tax would randomly be wrong or not charged at all which they could never fix after hours on hold and waiting for tech support. We then changed to RO Writer and used them for about 8 years and that worked ok with exception of many hours of set up and it was windows based. Had to upgrade and then started having lots of problems and the support went downhill. Tekmetric was easy to get set up for our go live date and since going live their support team is awesome. First and second week lots of support chats got us going in the right direction with things. One thing I would say is make sure you take the time to get EVERYTHING set up before going live. Helps you stay compliant in a complicated world. Although to be honest, most of their value is in the content they produce - im not sure why I need a saas subscription for what really should just be an HR content website. I think its a useful tool - but I dont think its the godsend it once was.

I still need to pay my accountant and bookkeeper - so in many ways its also redundant.

All in all, it can save you from lots of headaches and probably has many useful features and reports I havent even used yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

dishonest claims about "best in class" support on all plans. Their dedicated support on the highest priced plan probably got that compliment and they lie and claim you get best in class support on other plans.

You don't get any support. Just an answering service that calls you back and can't even access your account to help you.

I also wish they recognized that by being an HR and Team management tool, they need features to support full teams, including international contractors, and payroll paid outside their platform to US 1099s. They are building features for Canada now...but they definitely dont make it easy.

In other words - If I am handling some team management and HR in this tool - I really need basic features for the rest of the people management part of the business - not just the people I pay through their service.

(i.e. why cant I run international payroll through transferwise or another tool and import that data easily. If I want to use time tracking, or team directories, or employee and contractor onboarding - I really need tools that let me now NEED another tool for those same features just because those other contractors are not requiring any legal filings.) I think the quote feature might need some improvement. I want to introduce solar companies to Avaza but I don't think the users will be able to generate accurate quotes using Avaza alone. Some calculation fields to in the quotes section will be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Hourly has been helpful on so many fronts.

1) Time and job tracking: I bid almost all of my jobs on a time and materials basis. Before Hourly, tracking the hours of my employee’s was a nightmare. Getting time cards that were filled out correctly and on time was the bane of my existence. Now with Hourly, I am able to review each employees time card on a daily basis. I am able to review and approve each employee on a daily basis. I no longer have to wait until the end of the week and then sort out where they were and what they did. 1) Hourly delivers accurate real time analysis of where my employees are and what they are doing. This has led to my ability to control expenses better. I can now see if a project is taking longer than expected and allow me to focus on it.
