DeductionDog is a tax-deduction record-keeping app for self-employed workers, 1099 contractors, and gig workers - realtors, rideshare drivers, freelancers, and anyone running their own business. It's not tax filing software and it doesn't replace your accountant. It does the part nobody does: keeping the records all year.
The app logs business drives automatically - GPS route, distance, and timestamp - and labels trips in your profession's language. It scans paper receipts, finds e-receipts in your email, and pairs every expense to the matching bank charge. Records are cryptographically sealed the day they're created, so they're audit-ready by definition.
At tax time you export one organized package for your tax professional: mileage log, matched receipts, expense ledger, and Schedule C-ready reports. DeductionDog also handles the details competitors miss - it splits multi-state drives by state, catches wallet pass-throughs so a PayPal charge never counts twice, links your work calendar so drives get their business purpose automatically, and keeps shared/family calendars out of your business records.
Built by Vision Tax Co, an Enrolled Agent practice - the records are kept the way the IRS actually wants them. Android app in public beta.
