Trail Sentinel is trail maintenance management software for organizations that look after trail networks: outdoor centers, bike and multisport centers, ski resorts, sport clubs, parks and municipalities. It brings trails, maintenance tasks and structures together on one interactive map, shared by the office and the field crew.
In the field, the iOS and Android app lets staff and volunteers report a fallen tree, an eroded section or a damaged bridge in a few taps: a geolocated task with photos, annotations and a priority. The app keeps working without cell coverage and syncs when the connection comes back.
At the office, the web app turns those reports into planned work. Group tasks into projects for the season, assign them and follow progress on the map, in a list or on a kanban board. Bridges, signs, boardwalks and stairs each get a living file: inspection reports, risk status, a calendar of upcoming inspections and PDF reports with your logo. Recurring checklists cover season openings and safety rounds across the whole network.
Trail Sentinel also handles the people side of trail work. Staff, volunteers, partners and contractors each get the right permission level. Discussions stay attached to the task, structure or project they are about. Time is logged by work role with an hourly rate, so every task has a real cost, and timesheets are closed every pay period with an Excel export for payroll.
Trail users can report a problem by scanning a QR code at the trailhead, with no account and no email, and they are kept posted until it is fixed. Trail conditions can be published live on your own website with an embeddable widget.
Trails are imported from GPX, KML, KMZ or shapefile. Trail Sentinel supports hiking, trail running, mountain bike, gravel, fat bike, e-bike, cross-country and alpine skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, ATV and snowmobile trails. It is used by trail organizations in Canada, the United States and Europe, and is available in English and French.
