Winnows does the part of time tracking that ends in an invoice, and nothing else.
Every entry belongs to a client, a project and a task. The week is a grid: projects and tasks down the side, days across, hours typed into cells; on a phone the same week is one day at a time with a timer in the bar at the bottom. When the week is done, the member submits it, and a manager opens the week itself, reads every entry and its note, and approves it or sends it back with a comment. A lock date makes closed months read-only.
Bill rates carry effective dates: a project default, a rate per person on a project, and a per-person default when a project says nothing. Amounts are priced at query time from the rate in effect on the entry's date, so a rate change never rewrites history. Reports slice the same hours by client, project, task or person, with the rate behind each entry, and flag any hours that priced to nothing rather than counting them as zero. Budgets in hours or dollars alert at 80 and 100 percent. The billing export turns a month into invoice-ready lines for QuickBooks or Xero and records which entries were billed, so the same hours never invoice twice.
Moving from Harvest: the importer brings across every client, project, task, person, rate and time entry with full history, and ends with a reconciliation report that compares every total against Harvest's, by client, project, member and year, before you cancel anything.
Pricing has no usage dimensions. Free for two people and one active project; then $9 per active member per month, month to month. Archived people are free, and there is no seat minimum. Full CSV export and a read-only API at all times, and 90 days of export access after you cancel.
What Winnows does not do: invoicing, expenses, estimates, payments or retainers. It exports the lines; your accounting tool invoices. If you invoice from the time tool with your own templates, Harvest or Clockify fits better. No native mobile apps (it is a responsive web app), no browser-extension timer, no SSO or SAML, no integrations marketplace, no screen monitoring, no AI.
