The XDC Climate Explorer by right° calculates a company's climate impact in degrees Celsius. It is based on the XDC model (X-Degree Compatibility), which shows how much the Earth would warm by 2100 if the whole world operated like the company in question. Climate target, transition plan and actual development are shown side by side in the same unit.
What it does
- Baseline XDC: the company's current climate impact in °C, covering Scope 1 to 3
- Target XDC: check whether the climate target is compatible with 1.5 °C
- Growth scenario and reduction need: an individual 1.5 °C budget derived from value added and emissions intensity
- Scenario XDC: make the effect of planned measures and the transition plan visible in °C
- Results for the transition plan under CSRD/ESRS E1 and as an alternative or complement to the Science Based Targets
- Climate claims under EmpCo: since 27 September 2026, the EU rules on environmental claims (Directive (EU) 2024/825, in Germany § 5(3) No. 4 UWG) require a detailed and realistic implementation plan, regularly reviewed by an independent expert, for claims about future environmental performance made to consumers. XDC shows whether the plan supports the target. Whether a specific claim is permissible must be assessed legally in each case.
Science-based and peer-reviewed: the methodology was published by Springer after peer review (Handbook of Climate Services, 2020) and was also released as an open-source application in 2021.
Who is it for? Companies that want to set up, steer and substantiate a 1.5 °C-compatible transition plan.
